Ok, Ok, I have a confession... I haven't spayed Cricket yet. She is 20 months old and is in the middle of her second heat. We had Bubba neutered at six months. Cricket is 5.5 lbs and I feel so worried about her getting the surgery. After seeing her being miserable during her heat cycle, I have decided to get her spayed when she is done. She is my sidekick and I love her so much. I know all of the benefits of getting them spayed before the first heat and even now. I just feel like she's my baby and am very protective over her. I am not going to be selfish, so she is getting spayed. We never intended to breed her, I just kept putting it off. Okay there's my confession. I hope others that feel similar to me will take another thought about it. I know it's best for her. |
I know Gracie is only 4 months n i think about when that time will come i will be soo worried!!! i hope everything will go well for the both of us good luck!!! |

My aunt's Yorkie is about 4.5-5lbs and she made out GREAT with her spaying (a few weeks ago). I know everything will be fine! :D |

I know everything will be fine. I'm going to take her to a special vet who uses a laser for the surgery. He says recovery takes less time. |
She will be fine Michele, I thought I was bad  I'm glad I am not alone in the worrying dept.... Let us know when you are going to take her and my crew we'll say extra special prayers for Cricket:) ......I love the no feet I feel Lexie is the same way....:D |
I think everybody worries over having their pet spayed/neutered! It's only natural when they're our "babies"! Look at it this way - it's one of the best "gifts" you'll ever give her......:) |
1 Attachment(s) I like the idea of laser surgery. I felt so bad putting Misha through it. Piper has another month before she has to. |
Oh Michele, it is only natural for you to worry about her. I can understand...my parents/sis just had Abby spayed a few weeks ago...she is only 5 pounds and they were worried about her in the same sense. During her last heat, she would just lay and moan....I guess if we can do it, dogs can too. She was just fine and I am sure that Cricket will be too! Look on the bright side, at least you have a lot of fellow worry-warts here to help you out!;) |
Good Post! And very timely for me. I'm a big believer that all non-show dogs should be spayed/neutered. I give all my extra change, round up the $$ extra in support for all of the programs that support affordable spay/neutering etc..... I adopted Roxy and Ruby about 3 months ago and have planned all along to get them fixed right at 6 months. Well... the time is approaching and now I have jelly knees - not enough to ever change my mind but I am nervous - something I have never really been (I didn't say cautious - just nervous)! Tomorrow we go to the vets for their final puppy shot (second of the lyme series) and to make arrangements for their operations. OH MY - it is very scary to think about doing this for Roxy as she is just over 3 pounds and it doesn't really make me feel all that much better that Ruby is already 7.8 pounds. This was easier with the big dogs! J |
