anyone sneak or take bigger yorkies everywhere with them??? How many of you sneak larger yorkies (8lbs+) around? I know people carry big bags into the stores (as I've worked in them). I see people with backpacks but I am so small framed that I wonder if I stick out carrying my yorkie around. He is over 2lbs bigger (8lbs total) then he was supposed to be and I take him almost everywhere usually with his little head sticking out. I have a celltei backpack that I LOVE because it distributes the weight and with my bad back, I can carry him longer in this...but would it stand out too much in a dept store? I can't do the "purse" over one shoulder thing because it is too heavy on my shoulder so I do the across the chest deal. Anyways, just curious as to who else takes a bigger yorkie everywhere. suzie |
Pssst...take Trixie out and deprive her of free time to sleep on my be in my pillows...the very idea! Actually, our yorkies range from 3-7 1/2 lbs and none of them are very fond of goign anywhere they don't have to.) |
My Gracie is 8 lbs and she loves going places but we only go to dog friendly places. I don't think I could sneak her in anywhere, just too big. |
Buddy is 13lbs and before I got him I read it is fun to "take your Yorkie every- where with you". I could not wait to carry a bag with my little baby in it and go shopping. Forget about it! We only go to pet stores. He is to heavy to carry around anywhere else. My arm breaks holding him. His head alone is about the size of a 5lb Yorkie!:p |
Logan can't stand to be zipped up in his bag completely, but I have taken into places he shouldn't be. I took him to the mall in Indy once & only one lady noticed him & then she wanted to see him & all that. The bag I have for him is huge seeing as he's 12+ lbs & no one seems to care. I took him to Lowes & let his head hang out & everyone just made a fuss over how cute he was. I also have taken him into Kohls, target (not a super one),bb&b, & old navy. If anyone noticed they didn't say anything. |
At 10 lbs Chachi is just too heavy to carry. I do have a bag for my 6 lb yorkie but even she gets heavy sometimes. |
we do go a lot of places I have been taking Sparks everywhere (except grocery but I have snuck him into a convenience store on my way home). No one appears to notice...but I'm so self concious becaus I am so small framed. suzie |
Mine are less than 6 lbs, but I don't take them many places. Afraid I'd get too defensive if someone told me they couldn't be there. |
Yes I do :D Mia is 10lbs and Pierce is 5lbs both will jump in their bag when we get out of the car to go anywhere. I have been sneaking them around for two years and no one has ever said they can't be in the store. I just bought a stroller they are a bit heavy to carry around. I drape a baby blanket over the stroller must people think is a baby until Mia sticks her head out. It's has been easy for they are very well behave when in their bag or stroller. Also, I live in New York and there are many dog friendly neighborhoods!!! |
I take Jasmine everywhere. She is 5 lbs and has a bag and no one ever knows I have her if she is in the bag. We took her with us this summer when we went out of town to ball tournaments. We stayed in the Holiday Inns because they are pet friendly. As we walked around in the motels and at the tournaments everyone stopped and oohed and aahed over her. She is such a people lover. She loves everyone. She does this little thing where she walks on her back feet and rubs her front feet together like she is begging them to pet her. It is so cute. She can walk on her back feet forever. I went to Walmart and found her a kennel that is made of nylon and mesh and it folds into a flat approx 12 inch by 12 inch square and pops up into a nice size little kennel. It is so handy for traveling as the regular kennels take up so much room and if you have very many people and luggage they won't fit. I have taken Jas into Walmarts, Claires, several malls, Lowe's (Lowes here must be pretty pet friendly. I took her out of her purse and they just loved her) Silver Dollar City in Branson Missouri. After I got to Siver Dollar City I saw signs that said " no pets". I had been there before many times but not for a while. Pets were allowed when I was there before. I kept her in her purse all day except for a few times when I would sit in a quiet place and let her out for a while. I saw a security guard once when she was out and he didn't say a word. Just smiled and walked on by. He saw me putting her back in her purse and knew she wasn't going to bother anyone in there. Most of the ball parks that we went to in other states and other cities in our state allowed pets on leashes. One lady told me the one in Topeka, Ks did not. We had to check out of our motel at noon one day and our granddaughter did not play her last ball game until late that evening. We had not eaten in hours so on the way home we stopped at the Cracker Barrel and I took Jas inside and we ate. I do not normally do that. It is the first time, but it was 100 degrees outside and I couldn't leave her in the car. I carried her in and set the purse down on the floor beside my chair. She never let out a peep and I don't feel I contaminated anything as she was completely contained and zipped up and I kept her on the floor. It is not something I would usually do we were just in a bind. She is always so good and well behaved when I take her places and when she is in her bag she is very quiet almost as if she knows. |
If I would have taken Kacee in that restaurant and left her in her bag, she would have been crying from smelling the food!:D |

Sammy weighs 11lbs & I have never taken him anywhere except to the vet & pet store. He is so heavy, I can barely carry him accross the room, let alone out & about. Plus I have like a super bad back. |

Jeter travels Jeter goes most places with me. He is 8.8 pounds and loves being in his doggie duffle bag. He goes to the drug store, the pizza shop, the ice rink..and many more places. The only place he doesn't go is to a restaurant. He loves food too much, and would surely cry. |

Yorkie Skater: sorry I didn't get back to you. I've been really busy with school about to start. I got my doggie purse from Avon last year. It is pretty big and Jas can stand up in it. It is black quilted with a white furry "Westie" dog on the front. If I don't want anyone to suspect that it is a doggy bag I turn the bag around so you can just see the black. It has black mesh on the top and ends but you can't really see in it unless you look really closely. I have taken Jas with me in the bag since she was a little puppy. She has always been really good and quiet in the bag as if she knows. She loves to go in it. When I get the bag out she goes crazy wanting to go. I had never taken her in a food place before so I was afraid she would bark when she smelled the food but fortunately she didn't. I made sure the bag was touching my leg so she knew where I was. She likes to be able to see me or touch me and she feels secure. I did take her some of my food out of the restaurant and feed her in the car as a reward for being so good. Lana |
I wish I could take Sadie more places. But to get a bag big enough to fit her, it's WAY big for my small size. So I look like I'm toting around this big ol' bag. So we usually just go to the pet store. |
