We need to remind Gus he's a dog! 4 Attachment(s) As some of you may know that we have been tryin to get a playdate going on for months now, we finally made it happen! It was only Dee (Scarapindee- a very lovely woman I might add) and I. It was so nice to finally meet. Her Abbi and Itzi are the cutest little Biewers! My daughter just fell in love with Itzi. I feel so bad because my Gus is not mr. social. It's all my fault! I am way to protective and he's never really around other dogs. Mainly because we don't have any little dogs for him to play with. There are some really nice bigger dogs on the block, but I just am so fearful of them hurting him. After being attacked, I see a big dog out and I panic and swoop him up. I know I shouldn't do that but I almost lost him and I am only trying to protect him. But now I've gotten him so fearful all dogs big and small. He will try and sniff them out but on his terms only. If they go up to him he will growl. I just wish he would come out of his shell. But I could use help! I'm hoping to try and get together at least once a month. I'm hoping being around other yorkies will do the trick! It's really about time to get him a playmate (female yorkie) but it's just not on the budget right now. I know I will get my little girl someday but I'm just hoping to break out of his shell before then. Also if there is any dog events, meetup, playdates please let me know. I will get Gus to know he's a dog no matter what it takes! Here are a few pictures of all 3 of them. (The very few times Gus let them near him that is) The one I really like is of all three in a line smelling eachothers butts. It looked as if he was going to give it an effort but just wasn't ready. Like I said,,, we'll fix that! 1, butt sniffing 2, Gus thinking of playing with the ball till Itzi came too close 3, Gus and Itzi, was able to catch the shot before Gus ran from him 4, Itzi, He is so beautiful. |
Way to go Gus! Remember, baby steps! You'll be hanging out with the biewers in no time. LOVE the butt-sniffing shot. Looks like a clinic on the technique. |
3 Attachment(s) Here are a few more,,,, 1, Itzy begging for a treat 2, Abbi begging for a treat (which is quite the attention hog) SO CUTE!!! 3, Itzy one last atempt to be friends. |
aww that's so sweet! I had the same problem so started my own yorkie owners group (see the website in my signature). We meet up every month and discuss doggy issues it's been great for all the doggies to hang out with doggies their own size. If you put signs up at local pet stores and everytime you see some with a yorkie you swoop on them and tell them about the group the numbers will steadily grow -- it's definitely worth it! |

Those are great !! You're so lucky to meet up with her - she has gorgeous dogs - I know just what you mean about over protectiveness - My girls are used to my sons weiner boys ...but get very timid around other dogs....They love the neighbors dogs - but man - when I take them to meetups - they want me to hold them the whole time - they want to mingle - but they just don't really know how.....but they act FINE if We go to petsmart or to friends. I wish WE could get together girl - we'd bring them out of their little shyness |
Those pictures are so sweet. You all have such beautiful little dogs! I think Alaskayorkie is right, just take it slow and you'll get there. I don't blame you at all for worrying, I'd be more that just a little bit paranoid if I'd been through what you and Gus had to deal with. Again, loved the pictures. :) |

Dee is entering Itzy in a dog show on the weekend of the 18th in Whittier. I am looking foward on going to cheer him on if all goes well. It should be really nice. It will be our first time. GO ITZY!!!!!!!! |
Great photos Monica. I sure enjoyed meeting you and your daughter and Gus last weekend. Gus will come out of his shell-- just have to keep on coming and playing with the biewers. Maybe next month maybe we'll have more come to play. |
