input needed! Lillie has had diareah this evening so bad that it has started to look like mucas. It's clear and comes out like water. It started to look yellow and then after about 5 times of going every 5 min it turned clear. She has not went now for about 25 minutes. She had a rabies and leptospirosis shot on the 1st of this month, do you think she could be having a effect from that? She is acting fine, very playful and entergetic, has been eating and drinking normal. I have not given her anything to cause diareah Please need your input. |
I would be concerned about dehydration. Make sure she keeps drinking. I think you are supposed to give them rice for dirreha. |
she is so small it worries me, I will make sure to push the water. |
I would call on eof those er vets and see if they think she should be seen. These little ones can get dehydrated so quick. Definately give her nutricak and fluids. I hoep she is better soon. Has she been under stress lately that can cause an irritable bowel sometimes and that is usually mucousy diahrrea. Keep us posted. |
nope she has not been under stress, I dont have any nutrical, but I do have karo syrup, I just gave her a drink of water so I will offer her water every 20 min or so. So far I have not seen anymore diareah and I have her in her expen to monitor her. |

Check her gums (I learned about this working for the vet). If they are white or very pale - call the vet. Rosey gums - could be multiple of things: gas, stomach acid, worms, food, ate something other than food, etc... I hope she feels better soon. :) Nutra-cal is a good thing to use until you know what it is. P.S. Is she eatting grass = upset stomach. T. |
I just checked her gums and they look normal, pinkish color. I gave her a couple small drops of kayro and gave her another drink, she didnt seem to want the water. nore more signs of diareah and when i went to the pen she came to me with energy. |
Here is a link that I found on Lepto shots, I do not give Lepto to any of my Adult Yorkies or puppies. I would call your Vet and get more info on this, and your should never give two shots in one like the Rabies and the Leptos always do this on 3 to 5 days apart of each other. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ght=Lepto+shot |
lepto Most vets do not give lepto any longer..it is the one vaccine that causes the most reactions in toys dogs..I would give her chicken and rice until her stools are normal..you can use OTC diaherra meds..check the labels..best wishes |
she has not had anymore diareah this evening and she has been active, her nose is wet. She is now sleeping. I will monitor her throughout the night and see how she is in the am. |
Maybe you should try feeding her some chicken and rice. I sure hope your little darling is on the mend!!! Let us know how she's doing! |
Hoping this post finds Lillie doing better!!! I am so sorry she is feeling so bad!! I have to say none of my yorkies have had lepto shots!! My vet said there wasn't a need in my area and that toy breeds react badly to it!! I do hope she feels better!! |

wow, what an emotional evening I have had, I'm sitting here in tears cause i just read a post in the RIP section, with Lillie having the diarreah this evening I just cant bare even thinking about ever losing her, I just cant go through that again. I checked on her and brought her down here with me and just held her in my arms and told her how much I love her. Lillie was a gift from Kloey, I just know she was, but she is so tiny that I worry about her all the time. She is almost 5 months old and weighs 1lb13oz and she is just so precious to me. Sorry just needed to get that out! |
if the stool gets better then you should have nothing to worry about...rice and chicken is easy to digest and will help with regulating her stool. If you continue to see mucous take a sample to the vet check for coccidia and giardia check, a bad bacteria can bring a puppy down fast. Since you have such a little one I would have some rebound on hand...here is the link http://www.vetmeddirect.com/i_009NPS...n-32-ounce.php... it comes in chicken or beef flavor hope this helps |
Hi Missy, hope your baby is doing better, ours had a bit of that today, I think she was stressed cause I too had a difficult day, I think they sence these things, I cooked Baby Blessing some rice and chicken and that seemed to work, I even gave her the rice water into her drinking water, do you have any recent pictures of Lillie in the gallery? Patti |
I sure hope your sweetie is doing better. I can understand your worry. I worry myself sick when Maddie is ill, but she's a lot bigger than Lillie! I'll say prayers!!! Best wishes! |
I was sorry to read that your little one isn't feeling well but I'm glad to hear she seems to be doing better. I hope she continues on the mend. It is really hard after you've lost one, I sometimes even have nightmares about Gypsy getting cancer like Tori had. I just really work at loving her and enjoying her as much as possible every day and try not to think about anything negative. I know how happy you'll be when she is back to normal. :) |
Has she had a stool sample recently? They can get diarrhea from giardia or coccidia and can get dehydrated very quickly if the diarrhea continues. Mucousy stools can be a sign of giardia. I would think that it wouldn't be from her vaccines since they were given 5 days ago, but you never know. Keep a close eye on your precious little girl and keep us informed. |
I am in Indiana too. My vet said my dogs had to have the lepto because there were cases of it in this area. Neither of mine had a reaction to it though |
How is Lillie today? Sending prayers and good thoughts that she'll be fine. Canned pumpkin worked like a charm when Ziggy had diarrhea...the vet found carpet fiber in the stool sample. Please keep us posted. ((HUGS))) Karen |
So far today she has not had anymore diarreah, this morning she had a soft stool and it had just a small amount of mucas in it, I went to the store and got her some baby food chicken the stage 1 and some whole grain rice and gave her a tsp of each this morning and did the same this afternoon and she just gobbled it down. I think I may have found out why she had it so bad, my husband gave her a slice of deli turkey, and maybe that was just way to much for her small stomach, he said he wont ever do that again! You just dont know how tiny these babies tummy really is till you give them to much food to handle. Thanks everyone for being there for me last night, I was an emotional wreck. |
i'm so glad to hear yor baby is feeling better today. they can really make you worry cant they. |

Missy, I just seen your thread. I sorry Lillie went through all of that. I know you must have been scared to death. I had my scare with Maddie yesterday, she ate grapes, call the vet they told me to give her hydrogen proxide to make her puke. She puked like 8 times. I'm so glad she did too, cause it looked like she got ahold of 2-3 grapes. Dan didnt know they were toxic and gave Lexi some. I'm so glad Lillie is ok now, I'm sure it was the turkey. Give her kisses from all of us!!!! |
