Baby Tumbled Down the Stairs Yesterday. But, don't worry...she's fine!!! I got up to take her out to pee. I started walking down the stairs (my bedroom is on the 2nd floor). All of a sudden she started tumbling!!!!! She did is so gracefully, actually! I freaked out, ran down the steps and started doing an EMT exam on her! She was walking around, didn't yelp when I pressed all over her body, and seemed fine. She was dancing around "saying" come on mommy, I gotta go pee!! So, she is okay, thank GOD! I don't know how or what happened, but I hope it never happens again. (sigh) I wanted to post this because Jiggity Jig just wrote a post regarding her tiny Yorkie getting hit with a calculator on the head, and almost dying. :( My 10+lb Yorkie tumbles down about 7 or so stairs and is 100% okay. I'll take my Teapot anyday of the week! ;) |
Nicole, I am so glad that your little bundle of joy is ok! What a scare! |
I'm glad she was ok! I remember someone here posting about a trip down the stairs causing a lot of trouble for their baby, and so I'm paranoid about it when we're at my mom's house! In addition to my two yorkies, we have a 75 lb lab who's built like a tank, and has a cast iron stomach. We never worry about ANYTHING with her! Talk about a whole other world with the wee ones! :p |
Thank god she is ok:thumbup: Im a nervous wreck about everything I always have to have an eye on james!! Everyone thinks im crazy but there so quick and can get into trouble so easy!!! |
yay for teapots! I'm glad Baby's ok. D&D send yorkie kisses. My Dougal's such a drama queen if he hurts himself (he's 15lbs) and then once he gets a hug from his mum he's magically ok again. |
Aw poor baby I am glad shes okay |
I'm so happy she is ok. They are sure sturdy little dogs. |
oh Man Nicole !! She could have broken her neck and I'm so glad she's ok !! What a little trooper she is - no Drama Queen for her !! |
OHHHH man I know exactly how you feel. The same thing happened to Louie just last week. I have all hardwood floors in my house now, and Louie gets very excited whenever someone is coming or going from the house, and my daughter and her bf were leaving and Louie who was in the kitchen with me....went flying to run after them and couldnt stop in time and slid onto the stairs and bounced down them. I was soooo scared! He was stunned but okay thank GOD! Another time when he was really small, I happened to go downstairs into the garage to get some Christmas stuff out and the poor little thing must have been peeking over or took one step or something and I heard boom,boom,boom.....I screamed like a mad woman and found him at the bottom of about 5 stairs. I put gates up right after that, but took them down recently thinking it was time and he was old enough to know better. |
Glad That she wasn't smaller, that could have ended in disaster. One time Elle ( my latest puppy) was trying to get up the patio steps and didnt jump as high as she should have and she fell backwards and landed right on her head. Boy, did she scream. I babied her and checked her out .She was ok, but it scared me to death. But glad she was ok. :yorkiesar |
So glad Baby is OK. Sometimes they are like a roly-poly and thank goodness for that!:D |
I'm so glad Baby is doing better! Hugs and Kisses from Zoey. :) |
Glad to know that Baby is okay. Thanks for sharing Nicole. Sissy fell down our stairs when she was 14 weeks old and under 2 lbs. I'm not sure how it happened and thank God our stairway is only 5 stairs. I didn't see it, just heard what sounded like a squeaky toy getting repeatedly stepped on (which at the time we didn't have!) and then crying. She was a little dazed, but more scared than anything. It could have been disastrous, especially since our stairs are solid oak. But since then, she WILL NOT go down stairs at all. Probably a good thing!! |
ohhhh Nicole so glas Baby is ok!! Wow how scary that must have been! I'm so glad she is fine!! give that baby a big hugg for me! |
Thank goodness Baby was okay. |
I am glad Baby's alright!!!! It is always scary seeing them fall or tumble down the stairs. Scampers is having a problem himself when it comes to stairs. He can go up them with no problems at all. Going down them is a different story. Everytime he tries to go down them, he ends up tumbling or rolling down them. It scares me since he is only 5 pounds and I wonder if he will ever get the hang of it. So now I make sure I carry him downstairs, but it would still be nice for him to learn to go down the stairs by himself. I don't why he does this, whether his legs are just too short and small to go down stairs or what the problems is?? But when ever he tumbles down the stairs, it looks really bad. The first time really scared me!! He is fine each time I just wonder why he can't get the hang of it. I am sure as time goes by he will be able to go down stairs, but until then I am left worrying about him!! |
You mustve been soo scared!! I'm so glad your baby is OK! :) |
So happy your babies ok. my kodi now just under 7 pounds at 3 years old had a fall/jump when he was 12 weeks/2 pounds. just was happy when mommy walked in the door and jumped off the open staircace about 4 feet and knocked the wind out of him self I had only had him 3 days and i was a mess tilhe checked out ok. Ness fell down an entire flight of stairs - every step - and rolled into the wall at the bottom. He didn't cry out but had a sad tail and ran straight to me, he was completely okay though. I think he was two pounds at the time. Let me tell you, he has never once fallen down the stairs again! |
I'm also glad to hear that your baby is okay! Those stairs can be tricky for our little guys. I also have hardwood floors/stairs and had to get a runner, a cheapy one from Home Depot, so my babies would have better "grip." It's a thin carpet with rubber on the back...kinda ugly...looks cheap...is cheap...but works great! We roll it up and put it away when guests come over but keep it down for everyday use. The only "pain" is the rug needs to straightened out every day. It's a cheap solution to a potentially costly price...one of my babies getting hurt! |
Stairs And More Stairs!!! Our 13 year old stays upstairs now by her choice but we are so thankful she has never broken a limb. ANd this is after countless times falling/rolling down the stairs we have in our split level house. Now we have a new addition and wondering when she will start attempting the stairs. PS: Our stairs are hard tile but a few years ago we had them carpeted. Our Yorkie rolled down them many times when they were all tile!!! Carpeting stairs is not expensive as one thinks. It is soooo much better then before and less wear and tear on the human knees also. |

OMG:eek: So glad she wasn't hurt, whew! How scary for you~! |
Pippa fell down our stairs twice over the xmas period, she had never done this before???!!! She is fine thank god! I have clipped the hair between her pads real real short and it hasnt happened since. I can only assume that is why she fell, by slipping on the stairs cause her hair on pads too long as we have lived here for 5 months with no problems, Maybe you could see if this may be the case for you too.I also have wooden stairs and it frightened me to death and i now carry Pippa when ever i go up or down (she follows me all the time...well you all know how it is) |
Glad you're Baby is ok, that happend to Poli last week at my Daughters House, i screamed, just knowing he was hurt.....thank god for all the padding he has !!! |
You Who........ I believe Baby fell down the stairs at the beginning of August.....:p Old thread hits again.......Glad everyone's elses pups are ok thou. So glad I don't have stairs, Surfie would probably figure out how to tumble down them as well. He is such a Goof........ |
OMG, I'm so glad Baby is ok. We have 13 stairs going to the basement. Toto is such a "sissy" that I don't have to worry about him trying to go down stairs. Everything scares him. :p |
Yup! She's still fine! :D But she has fallen a time or two since, but only with like 2 stairs left...nothing major like this. Thank GOD! :animal36 |
