Can Anyone Teach Me To Tie A Topknot? HI... Can anybody out there teach me the best way to tie a topknot? Lola came back from the groomers with a cute topknot, and when I try to duplicate the look, it just looks like a ponytail, with little hairs sticking straight up!! Of course she is still a cutie regardless, but...please anyone?? help?? thanks!:p |
I can't physically teach you to do it but I can give you these instructions and hope that they help... "You should not use the latex band attached to a bow to keep the top knot hair in place. The latex bands on the bows are only for holding the bow on. The hair should be tied with another latex band, or two, before attaching the bow. First, comb the hair and place a latex band at the base, like you would do for a pony tail on your own hair. Then, if you like, bend the hair over and slip on a second latex band toward the bottom of the hair loop and twist it several times so that it is tight. Sometimes, the hair is not long enough to bend over, and you may have to let it stick up. After the top knot is set in place, put the bow in the hair. Put the bow in the hair and twist the band only enough times to secure the bow, (probably two times). Do not make it overly tight. If you do, it will be difficult to remove without damaging the bow or the dog's hair. To remove the bow, carefully untie the two loops you used to put the bow in, then CUT the other latex bands with a very small pair of scissors. Embroidery scissors are perfect. Never clip the latex bands attached to the bow, and be very careful not to accidently cut the dog's hair." This was sent to me once from a very nice lady who makes show bows, www.lawdogbows.com. |
here are some instructions that I found, I personally just put a ponytail in. 1. Start with clean hair and brushed. 2. Part the hair on head, in a triangle, starting from the corner of the eyes to the top of the head. Different people do different things! 3. Take styling gel and put on the top knot, tease, now take a complexion brush or tooth brush and smooth top layer of hairs. 4. Take the hair in your hand and put the rubber band about a half inch to an inch away from head. 5. In the ponytail, make alittle palm tree, in the center of the palm tree take a small piece of hair out of the center. Pull it as sliding down rubber band. You should have a puff now. You can take a rat tail comb, and puff it out more with the sharp end. 6. Smooth out wild hairs with a tooth brush or complex- ion brush. 7. Now insert Bow. 8. Tease the pony tail and smooth the hair on the top layer. Fold over making a loop. 9. Hold loop and put a rubber band around it. 10. Next fan out loop. 11. There I think you are done. How does it look? 12. Remember Practice makes Perfect. This is not an easy thing to do. So Practice, Practice, Practice. |
Latex bands I cannot even get Little Bit to let me put a rubber band in her hair. But if I could where would I get the latex bands I should be using? Thanks :bears: :aimeeyork |
I got some of mine as Sally's hair supply store, but I think walmart or target carries them. I also got some real cute ones from a childs retail store. |
