Anyone Else's Yorkie Have No Jaw Power My 2 1/2 year old yorkie-poo-weight 5lbs-can't chew up a milkbone or rawhides. It seems he doesn't have any jaw power. Is this normal? |
Lacey is a 5lb yorkie and I have to buy kibble type of food because her mouth is so tiny. She can't eat treats like Milkbone, so try a little peeled apple, green beans and Cheerios. Both my yorkies love these healthy alternatives. |
Jaxon seems O.K. with any soft food. I buy him Royal Canine yorkie food & let it soften with water, then he eats it from my hand, or he has the Purina Hamburger/cheeseburger type food.:animal36 |
My guess would be there is another issue. Maybe his teeth hurt. A 2 1/2 year old dog should be able to eat dry food. Have you had your vet check his teeth and jaw. It's possilbe that his jaw had been broken at one time And did not heal right. |
He has been checked by the vet and all is well. He will eat some dry hard food-the cat's Deli Cat if it is out. But if we leave out his food hard, he won't touch it. If my sister's pom is over and eats it hard, he will eat some. It's just that I was wondering why he can take months to chew up a pig ear, and he can never chew up a cookie. Just little crumbles. |
