im a man so this might sound funny but when you get your hair cut do you try and find just the right stylist for your idea of a great cut? for us its no difference weve been through some bad and then better till we found just the right groomer for Meg and her personality. as long as its safe and you feel comfortable try whoever you never know where you will find that great groomer. hair will grow back and you will find just the right groomer for your furrbaby try talking to them first. see what your first impression is and fallow your heart.

I was scared about this, too. I have successfully groomed Parker two times now. I just give him my version of the Puppy cut. It is a two-person job, but my husband helps keep him occupied.

Yes! Please go read the thread that Nikki+2 has posted. I have many posts on there regarding grooming at PetSmart. I do NOT recommend it. And that is just my personal opinion, because I had a bad experience there. I won't ever go back :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :mad: :mad: :mad:

I would call smaller shops but ask if they do HAND SISSORING. That the key question! Alway take a picture of how you want Tink trimmed so there is no misunderstanding on how you want her trimmed.

Or you can always pick up some shears and trim her yourself! It's actually fun! If you make a mistake, it will grow back.

What I did was, go to your local pet smart or pet store that lets animals in. Plus I checked out my neighborhood for small dogs, and went around to Vets offices. I found several people with small dogs in these places, and asked the ones that I liked their cut, where they went. It worked for me.

STAY AWAY FROM PETSMART groomers! I'm from the austin area and the first time I took lil Bailey to get groomed was at petsmart..It was OK. They gave him this lion of a cut...I really didn't like it. PLUS it was november..my poor lil thing was so cold this past winter. I had to buy him lots of sweaters. The second time I took him, which was about 3 months later. The ***** pulled..no YANKED his hair out of his ears..and she took SKIN from both of his ears. I keep wondering why he kept scratching at his ears...the groomer said he may do that, and that she put some talc powder in his ears to soothe all the pulling. That night, I looked into his ears and saw nasty dried blood and pus-like goo everywhere. Good Job lady, not only did she yank skin off of both ears, she caused a yeast infection in them too (with the talc/open skin)That cost me a vet trip and antibiotic cream. I was furious.

From now on. I do MY OWN grooming. I figured it out fast, I prefer to use the conair trimmer set for men...got it from walmart. It has an itty bitty trimmer, perfect and just the right size for his nose and between the eyes. Also I can get really close to the skin w/o cutting or nicking. And a good pair of cutting scissors. I think he appreciates me doing it myself and is well behaved when I am trimming him. recently gave him a mohawk...it's great! The blurry-like pics are the ones with the mohawk and the very fisrt pic..I trimmed him myself.

Thank You all for your advice, I am going go with tinkerbell this weekend and ask around the store. Hopefully we can find someone with a small yorkie or other breed. Another thing that kinda scares me a little is Tinkerbell's size, she is under 4 pounds:( :( I would be so hurt and angry :mad: if anyone hurted my baby:aimeeyork :aimeeyork
