Champion Blood Line...How Do U Know/Find Out??? When I bought Tiffanie from her Breeder she said that she paid a high price for Tiffanie's Mother and that Tiffanie's line had Champion bloodlines & Show Dogs in it...Well, I've been trying to find out...I have her pedigree, contacted the Kennel where her Mother came from, they haven't contacted me back yet. I would like to know is there any place else that I can find this out besides the AKC online search for points? If there is Champion bloodline & Show dogs in her pedigree does this make her worth more? I'm still learning about all this and I just thought maybe some of U all could help me to learn more. Champions on her papers are in red and say CH right on them. Thay are only worth what someone will pay them. |
I wouldn't try to charge more unless the champion lines were very close to the pup that you have, like her parents. |
I wish I could answer your question! If you figure out how to find out let me know:) |
Who are the champions ? |
Yes, all champions in the pedigree (family tree) should be in red and written CH. infront of their names. Example: CH. Wildweir Bumper Sticker Take a look at the pedigree and make a copy of her first 3 generations for us to see and we can let you know how it looks for popular names, winning yorkies, etc... You do not need to know their points since all champions need minium of 15 points to become a champion. |
On the pedigree that we get from AKC it will show the champions in red? |
The only time I would charge more for a puppy is when I am selling a show dog. Any puppy I am selling for a pet is sold for pet prices under spay/neuter contract which usually means the spay/neuter has been done. I show my dogs and there are many champions in any of my pedigrees and often both parents or at least either sire or dam. Some champions are either Canadian Kennel Club or American Kennel club or sometimes both. A pet is a pet is a pet, and I would hope there would be champions in a line if you are breeding them. If your puppy is AKC registered, a pedigree from AKC will show the AKC champions on any of the dogs in that pedigree. AKC does not recognize championships from the Canadian Kennel Club and don't put them on the pedigree. They do recognize the Canadian Kennel Club registration though and a Canadian Kennel Club registered dog can apply for AKC registration and be shown and championed in AKC shows. |

I agree that what you most likely have are pet quality pups and should only be charging for pet quality, since the champions are probably back several or more generations. But it would be informative and helpful if you understood the lines in their pedigrees. And yes, if AKC - they will show Ch. infront of the dogs names to show which ancestor is a champion. I will always give a copy of the pups pedigree to the new owners and I will also explain it. :D Sorry about informing about the red color - I always use red in champions since it shows up better and easier to spot and when I first started breeding yorkies years ago I paid extra for the color pedigrees. |
this is a good question good to know! |
