Do you guys think it's ok?? I have made an appointment with the vet to get Coco's Rabies and Distemper shots. Do you think it's ok to have those done in one appointment? When I first had them done she was only 1 lbs so we broke them out within a week but she didn't have a reaction to either one. She's now over 1 year and full grown at 4 lbs and a few ounces. Is it ok to have both vaccines at the same visit? |

What a little trooper!!! Yea Coco did so well for her first vaccinations and she was only 1 lbs. So I just hope having them in one day doesn't give her the runs or vomitting. :( |
My vet told me it was better to give the shots at different times with such a small dog. |
I just did this to Hallie and I wish I hadn't. She was so lethargic and didn't eat for 2 days and sh'es 6 pounds. I would break them up just to be safe. |

All of my life we've given them at separate times. My vet wouldn't give them all at once, either. I wouldn't do it. It's not worth the risk. Every little dog reacts differently. You can't foresee problems, so why create conditions for them? |
I would separate them just to be on the safe side. Sissy is 4 lbs and the vet said that is how her annual shots would be handled. All her puppy shots were given at separate visits. |
I would get them done separately |
If you've never had them given together... I would keep them separate.... :) |
Yeah I dont know if you read my allergic reaction post I made.. i think she had those two together.. or was it rabies and the other one..i think its bordetella (sp?) and she had to go back to get another shot for the reaction |
So I went in today and they said they think it's better to spread them out. They had forgotten how tiny shereally is even though she's almost 5 lbs. So we got the rabies today and we'll get the Distemper next friday:D we wanted to be on the safe side:p |
That's great that they are looking out for her best interest too! My bf's parents took their yorkie to get his 4 year shots, rabies, distemper and one more, he was out of it for almost a week. I felt so bad for him. :( |
I would never give two shots at once. I like the rabies and booster spaced 3 weeks a part to give their immune system time to recover from the first vaccine. They are just too little to overload their immune system with two vaccines. |
ok now I'm Psd off! I took Paris in today and they gave her both shots at once even though I kept insisting I thought they should be spread out. The vet (a new one that was recommended to me) acted like I was off my rocker for asking him to spread them out. If anything goes wrong I'm gonna smack that man. |
