What is flea dipping? I have never heard this term... Could someone explain? Is it the same as flea treatment you get at the grocery store? |
It is a strong product that is to be diluted and then your dog is dipped in it to kill fleas. It can be done professionally also. I have never done it and never will, it can be deadly. |
I remember reading somewhere that flea dipping increases the risk of cancer. |
Flea dipping used to be done routinely, before Frontline and other such products. With the availoability of these newer safer products, I have no idea why it is even done anymore. It isn't even that effective long term. I even use Fontline sparingly. I use it once in the spring, and then will only use it again if I find a flea or tic. Most years, one treatment is all it takes. |

I am still surprised we get calls at our grooming shop almost every day, someone wanting to know if we do flea dips. I tell them it is deadly especially for a yorkie. Even the flea drop products can be divided for your yorkie, most of the small doses go up to 20 pounds so you can use it on 4 dogs. It will save you a lot of money. If you dont have four dogs just tape it closed till the next time. No dipping ever. Debbie Ray www.sumtoiyorkies |
