Gender behavior difference. Which gender seems more affectionate, calm, and relaxed? I hear females. You? |
I've heard males and in my case it is true. Chachi is definitely more cuddly, and asks to be held. Ollie is very independent. |
Out of two females, I've had one that was a "little terrorist." Anyway, that was my pet name for her when she was very young. She calmed down though. :D The female I have now is very calm. So... |
I don't think it is gender specific. My newest little girl (6 months) is a terror. Lacy was very calm and affectionate. Allie is also very calm and affectionate. K.C. (boy) is also calm and affectionate. |
My female Tiffanie is the calmer one..Teddy my male is very active..More playful. Hugs, Lee & Babies :aimeeyork Tiffanie "Tiffy" Ranae: :aimeeyork http://www.dogster.com/?316369 :aimeeyork Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt: :aimeeyork http://www.dogster.com/?316383 |
Both my males are "momma's boys", as my husband calls them. They are sweet and affectionate, although they do rough house a lot when they play. But they both love their quiet time with the family too. Hope this helps.:) |
Both breeders I've dealth with have said that males of this breed tend to be more affectionate and cuddly - more lapdogs, whereas females tend to be more independant and aloof. Obviously this isn't going to be the case all the time, all dogs are different. Oscar is a huge cuddler and I guess I'll find out about females when I get my baby girl next week! |
I think it varies..Like in my case Hershey (boy) is very playful, independent, wild =terrorist  ..Snuggles (boy) is mellow loves to be pet, cuddle and very affectionate  ..Kisses (girl) lap baby, mellow, cuddles and loves to give lots and lots of kisses :p |
Doesn't environment play into behavior as well? I would think a puppy raised in a quiet home would be a little calmer, and one raised in a home where there's alot of noise and/or children could be more hyper? Is this the case? |

Both of mine (boy & girl) are little lovers, but Peanut is getting older so he has become more independent and Lexie goes everywhere I go, but she is defiantly the hyper one...I think it has alot to do with age...Lexie 10 months Peanut 9 years.....:D |
I think it really varies by each dog. My two males are way more cuddly, affectionate, and calm compared to my female who is independent and hyper. |
I agree. I think each individual dog is different without regards to gender. |
