Is there a difference between the males & females ???? Okay some may think I'm crazy but I just got my little girl two weeks ago and I already know I want another yorkie (maybe in the near future 6-7 months). Anyway I love my little girl but I wanted to know is there a big difference in personalities & temperament when it comes down to getting a yorkie? I have heard that males tend to be more loving & affectionate while females tend to be slightly more independent & moody. Is that true? I want to hear some our your experiences.... |
The female that I got back in April is VERY loving and affectionate. My female loves to sit on my lap, she loves sleeping or laying near me, she is always by my feet. I just recently got a male and he doesn't seem nearly as affectionate as my female. |
I just got my lil boy two months ago and he is a very independent dog :rolleyes: He'll tolerate you holding him but the minute you sit down with him he squirms away. I always read about other yorkie mums who have lil yorkie shadows 24/7, but nope, not for me. In fact, Peanut's scared of the shadows I have at night time :D Sigh, if only he wanted to be a lap dog part time, I'd even pay him (of course in dog treats hehe). Peggy |

I have a male yorkie, and he is not affectionate at all :( I always wanted a female, but i took a male because i heard they are more loving...totally not true in my case. I think it's all depends on personality, not the sex. |
I think its all in the character! Our female is loving! Likes to sit on your lap, sleeps with me, ect.... But she rules the house and is snobby! My male is such a sap for affection, he wants to be held and coddled all the time, and yet he still thinks hes a lab and wants to play fetch and run in circles trying to get his tail! |
Well males have pom poms and females don't! lol J/K Well, my boy Harley is the first yorkie I've ever had and he's not very affectionate. He's too busy running and playing and having fun. But at the end of the day he does cuddle up with me for a quick snuggle before bed. But I don't think it's ultimately because he's a male but because that's just who he is. I think it differs from each dog to each dog. |
I've HEARD males are more laid back - but I have girls so I can't say. I will say this - I get bombarded with kisses everyday and they don't leave my side for even a minute. They're VERY VERY attached and cuddly. :) Cheri sleeps on my head/pillow at night and Chanel is by my side - they don't even sleep in one of the 4 baby beds they have. Where ever I am - so are they. Even when they were small - both girls just seemed to always be velcro'd to my butt. |
I currently have two girls and Roxy is very affectionate. She loves to give kisses and sleeps next to me all the time. I've recently (since we conquered night time housebreaking thanks to the crate) started letting the girls sleep in my bed. Roxy ALWAYS sleeps tucked up under my chin but Ruby is WAY TOO independent and either sleeps at my feet OR (traitor) sleeps above my husband's pillow. I will let you know starting Tuesday if there is any difference with a male! (Although my male GSD is the MOST affectionate pup in the house and completely worships me - so much so that I think I should rephrase that to be most affectionate MALE in the house! He knows when I need that hug faster than my husband or any of my three sons!) |
I have 2 boys and 2 girls and they all are affectionate , equally. when I walk through the house I have 4 of them trailing me every step of the way. I have just recently started letting the 2 youngest sleep in the bed with us along with the other 2. I have one under the sheet curled by my leg one at me feet and 2 side beside at my side or neck. they all seem to have to be touching me. |
Ok, I just have to share this. Because I just learned this TODAY. Boys wear those belly band things. And there is a purpose to them.:eek: I thought they were some sort of a fashion statement. Oh I must really be blonde. :p I know that isn't what you were looking for but it does pertain to the males for anyone else that did not know. :2oh59: |
i think they all have their own personalities. i've heard 2 girls are better. i read it on here somewhere. |
I have heard the opposite! My liitle girl is a real snuggle-bunny. She has a gorgeous nature--friendly, happy and curious.She loves to sit on our knees, beside us on the sofa or mat, and sleeps sniggled up to me under the covers! Her breeder, who visits from time to time,said the boys in the litter were much more hyper. Holly has lots of energy, but a loving nature too. :-) |
Both of my males are VERY affectionate. Loves to cuddle and nudge but one is VERY new and they are not adapted to each other yet. |
we got a male cos i heard they were more affectionate and we were lucky cos Buddy is as soft and cuddly as you could get, he has been completely 'babied' from the day we got him tho so dont know if that makes any difference, but we know of another male pup from the same litter as Buddy who doesnt like cuddling atall so i reckon its all down to personality and individuality :) |
