BEWARE of flea dipping!!!!!! I know this is a terrible time for fleas, but please Google flea dipping hazards before choosing to pick them off one by one! My sister just flea dipped her Cocker yesterday...he seemed a little sore but then was fine (eating, drinking, barking, walking stairs). She is rushing him to the vet RIGHT NOW as she thinks he is blind! Please pray for Max, my sister is quite hysterical:( . Has anyone had reactions to flea dipping their pets before? My sister used Hartz. Googled it afterward and found how poisonous it is. |
Oh no. I will be praying for him. I hope he is ok. Let us know.:hands: |
OMG no!! That's just so awful!! Your sister and her baby will be in my prayers. I'm so sorry. :( I have heard that HARTZ is really a terrible brand. I would never buy any of their products. :thumbdown |
I hope he will be ok. That is so sad. Never buy anything with that name on it. I remember many, many years ago that people's little dogs were dying from wearing their flea collars. I'm praying for him.:( |
Oh no, prayers coming your way ! |
Thank you so much for the prayers and concern. I will let you know asap how Max is doing. The thing is....she flea dipped both of her Cockers....hopefully the same thing won't happen to Candy.:( |
I never flip dip any of my dogs, the closest they get to that is just flea shampoo. Hartz is very bad for flea dips, medicines, flea shampoos, etc. Several dogs have gotten sick and some have even died from it, it is highly posinous. If she wants to kill all existing fleas, give the dogs capstar, it is a pill and will kill all fleas within 30 minutes, and then have her just use flea preventative from there. I hope her cockers will be alright, I have a cocker and love her to death. I will be praying for her that both of them will be alright!!! |
Here is what happended to Max....he is blind...it could be temporary or it could be permanent. She has to wait 24-48 hours before taking him to a specialist. Here is what caused the problem...flea dipping him and worming him on the same day....too much toxins. Though everyone needs to stay away from Hartz anyway, remember NEVER to do these two things at the same time. :( Again, I thank you for your concern, prayers and comments. I will update if anyone wants to know how he is in a couple of days. |
Years ago I had a cat flea dipped and when I got her home she started foaming at the mouth and acting weird & running away from us. I caught her & ran her back to the place that did the dip. They snatched her from me and took her in back & hooked her up to an IV. They said sorry she must have had a reaction to the chemicals. I never did that again.to another animal. |
I've never done it either and now I know FOR SURE I never will. |
I am so sorry! This is just devestating news. Max will be in my prayers. I really hope this is only temporary. :( |
OMGosh - that poor baby. MANY years ago I used Hartz on my cat too - and the same thing happened - foaming at the mouth etc...we were lucky because he wasn't poisoned by the toxins. Back then - we didn't have the net for information - and Flea Dips are very dangerous. Hartz has been killing cats and dogs for YEARS  Julz - I have a cocker too and I would just be insane with guilt if this happened to us - tell your sister to hang in there and hopefully this is temporary ? GOOD LUCK and I hope her baby will be ok...... |

Please do update us. That is the saddest thing. I do hope it's temporary, but I have an awful feeling it isn't.:( |
