Housetraining a relocated Yorkie?? Is it possible?? I have just gotten a new Yorkie male that is 5 years old and he has been neutered for some time. He still raises his leg only. I got him after his original owner died. I have another yorkie female that is 6 and she is perfectly house trained. She has also been fixed. We love our new male dog but he will not get house trained. We take him out on a very regular schedule but he will still do his business in the house. We have even put him in a belly band and he will urinate on it. I can take him out and in about an hour later he will go in the house. I can crate him all day and he will not go in his dog crate which is a good sign. I can take him out after being in his crate and he goes outside. A few minutes after coming back in he will go in the house. It is like he can not help himself and just wants to go all the time. I had the vet check him for a bladder infection and he is fine. I have been told by people that this dog was perfectly house trained before but I just do not see it. He is a very smart dog but I can not get it through to him. Any ideas?? Can I get him trained?? belly band I would use the belly bands all the time in the house..put a mini pad in the center..that is what a belly band is for, to save your furniture and drapes. At his age, he may never change, but as long as he is wearing a band he will still be a great pet. |
YorkieRose's advice is the best! The bellyband is a life saver. I use them on Hefner when I take him to people's houses because he forgets he's housetrained. |
