Dry Nose...What does it mean? What does the DRY nose mean? I read on another post about a puppies nose being dry?? I have never heard of it. Is it something bad with puppies/dogs? Hugs, Lee |
It doesn't stay dry, does it? I found the following. Perhaps it will help some. http://home.ivillage.com/pets/symsolve/0,,ljz5,00.html |
I don't know NONE of mine have or have never had a dry noses! I read it on a post here and was just wondering what it ment! Thanks and Hugs, Lee |
Dry Nose OMG, be careful!!! Has your Yorkie been sick? When my Kahlua was sick, I was told dry nose could be a sign of dehydration. You might just want to call and ask your vet to make sure. But the only time my Kahlua has ahd dry nose is when she was sick. Good Luck;) |
This is what I found... Generally this is accepted that a wet dog nose is a symptom of good health; humidity is produced, mainly, in the lateral nasal glands of the nose. However, dehydrated dogs, though healthy, will have a dry nose, cause the body reacts reducing the liquid production. A dog sitting in a hot place may also have a dry nose temporarily. Besides, a dog recovered from distemper at an early age, may have a dry nose permanently. Oscar often wakes up with a dry nose but as soon as he's awake and has a drink, it's wet again. |
My mom told me it's from being sick. What Ton Ton said makes sense, it could be dehydration |
NO NO NONE of my Babies are sick! LOL! Thanks for the concern...I read it on another post here and just wanted to know what it means...So now thanks to U all I do. Hugs, Lee |
I definitely agree with the dehydration theory. Schatzi gets a dry nose if she hasn't had enough to drink during the day, especially when it's hot outside. After I lead her to her water bowl and she drinks, a little while later her nose is wet again. |
