well thanks for all the help. i guess he will be nori! plus he already knows that i would feel bad confusing him. |
I think Nori is an adorable name, but I think if you want to change it, it probably won't be too confusing for the dog. Lots of us name our dogs one thing but have a million pet names for them. Nikko knows his name but if I call him "cutie boy", "nickster" or "nicky" like I sometimes do, he still responds. It is more the tone of your voice that they respond to, not so much the actual words. |
I changed a 3 year old's name without any problems at all. She knew it within a day. She came from an abusive home. One day when she wouldn't come out of the aviary (they're allowed in there with me, but have to leave when I do) I called her by her old name thinking she would respond better. It definitely got her attention, she started crying and crawled to the door with her belly on the ground! It was so sad. So that name will never be used in this house again. |
We did it too We adopted a Boxer in Feb. '04. We were told to change her name b/c it would be like she was starting a fresh new life. I named her Gia. Her previous name was Lara...it did not fit. And she responded to Gia within a day or two. She was 14months old at the time. Sometimes it is best for them to be renamed. Especially if they came from a bad experience. They can leave that life behind. Although I do like Nori :) |
