tell me why! why isent expensive dogs covered under are home owners insurance? I went to today to talk to my insurance agent and they said there not covered! I want to get Lillie covered just incase something did happen to her. Does anyone know about pet insurance and what it all covers and who do you have yours with? |
I have insurance for Snickers with the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan. They have 4 different coverage options, 2 of which include wellness visits. The prices range from $249.00 to $699.00 annually (although you can pay monthly). There are limitations to the coverage, some of the major health problems won't be paid for. I'm glad I got it. I paid nearly $2500.00 when Snickers broke his leg. Of course, I haven't filed the paperwork yet but once I do I will be reimbursed. Maybe I should get off the computer for once & do it:) |
I just did a free quote from VPI ( http://www.petinsurance.com ) and for less then $30/month I can have the VPI Superior Plan and Vaccination and Routine Care Coverage. sounds pretty good, I will want to take a good look at there site and maybe call and talk to a live person. I did a search on YT for this and found some positive feed back. |

It's probably the same reason that homeowners insurance doesn't cover people. |
I was wondering if home insurance would cover a stolen pet as property. With the two-faced kitten "disappearing" the owners were insinuating that someone came and stole it so I was wondering if they were saying that for insurance reasons. |
Insurance I am an insurance agent and had an agency for a few years until this May when I quit. This is not an uncommon question. The normal homeowners policy does not cover animals and you cannot scheadule them on a policy or buy back coverage however if you had a farm or commercial policy you can scheadule animals. |

but if I had a farm and my pig fell and broke his leg he would be covered????? I'm not attacking you by any means so please dont take it that way, I just dont get it lol |
It all makes perfect sense to me. You can get anything in the world you want insured -- if you find the right insurance. Property insurance is for property - (house - personal property - etc.) People insurance is for people (life - disability - medical) Pet insurance is for pets .........(medical - and probably other if you search) Car insurance is for cars ... etc. etc. ------ The problem is that you are wondering why one type of insurance doesn't cover "other things." **** Plus - if our homeowners insurance covered our animals (our friends animals who might get hurt at our house) --- our insurance would be a lot more expensive...... (a lot more!!!!) I'd rather just have the option to take out a pet medical insurance policy - if I chose to. Ether way - you have to pay for it...... Carol Jean |
