My little guy is chewing up all my rugs... I'm at my witts end. He's on his 4th rug. I can't afford to keep replacing them. Any suggestions? Thank you I'm desperate. |
Do you have any chew toys for him??? |
yes.... I bought tons of chew toys after he chewed the FIRST rug. |

LOL. Sorry to laugh but I know exactally what you are going through! Buddy chewed up "13". Only the corners of course! I refused to take them up, he had to learn not to chew them. When they got bad I replaced them. I finally was told about Bitter Apple. I sprayed the corners and good bye chewing, it really worked. I have heard some dogs really like it but thank heavens Buddy was not one of them. I still have two that are missing one corner. The rest of the rug is like new. It will end but in the mean time try Bitter Apple. |
Bitter apple.... How long does it last after you spray it? Thanks. |

about once a week. But if they do not like it they will remember not to chew there. It is really bitter. Hope it works for you. |

OMG I thought I was the only one who had this problem! Jill is doing the same thing only she decided to chew the center out of my vintage braided rug in the front hall. Then I noticed she chewed a hole in the one that I have in the family room. I have plenty of chew toys available to her. She just likes chewing on soft things. Her favorite toys are soft toys. I have yet to catch her in the act! |
Same thing over here. Mimi has chewed the corner of my walls (down to the metal) flip flops, rugs, ect.... I couldn't take it anymore..I fixed the walls and sprayed them down with bitter apple. It really works! She doesn't chew my walls or anything else anymore. On the other hand Timmy is not a chewer...woooo I don't think I can handle 2 chewers. |
LoL Mine chewed up all my area rugs too. I just made sure they have things to chew on. They dont do it anymore. |
Mine chews rugs too - and, he isn't even much of a chewer. He has chewed the binding off a very large area rug that I have in my front room. I have an off-white rug and have seriously though about sprinkling some "white pepper" along the edge. I don't want to hurt him - but my rug cost $1800 and it's going to need to be replaced because of him (and then how many replacement after that!) And, I thought that if he tasted pepper only one or two times, he'd never do it again. I'll try "bitter apple" first. ***** When people ask us how much we paid for our dogs - we should add on all the rugs they have ruined..... very expensive!!! Carol Jean |
what I do when I see her doing something she is not suppose to do is squirt her with a water bottle, she hates to be wet so this has helped with her begging, and biting at her clothes. worth a try. |

back for more. At first I was annoyed he would not stop when I sprayed him but each time he went back chewing I sprayed him again until he was soaking wet. I wound up laughing my head off with him jumping all over me since he thought this was a new game. So I went out and bought the bitter apple.:D P.S. I even put a small amount of white vinegar in the spray bottle with no added results. He smelled like vinegar and I had to bath him! |
