i think the name registering deal is different here in NZ. THe breeder sends in the name to the Kennel CLub and I didn't get a say!

Dougal's official name is "Wilbur Shandy Rose". It's made up of the name the breeder gave him "wilbur" and "shandy rose" is something to do with the kennel.

DOugal's sire's lineage all have "rose" in the name somewhere. But DOugal's NOT a wilbur and DEFINITELY not a SHandy rose!

Everyone always says that he's a DOUGAL!

I registered him under Remy and seeing that its my first dog, I didn't know that you could give him more than that, so he came out to be Remy XVIII, which i absolutely hate, if i had known I would've created at least a last name.

Does anyone know if its possible to change their name after you've already registered them? I hope so...

sorry to say AKC will not change names once theyve been registered...the name is with them for life.

To answer the question about registering a dog that will not be shown-I was told that in the terrible event that you needed to prove "ownership" of your dog the registration papers can help.

As for Lacey's registered name:

Calista's October Valentine

(I guess you can figure out my real name is Calista and I got her in October!)

Princess Ninna Marie Fernandez (My daughter named her using her second name Marie , and of course our family last name. This was agreed upon after her initial name was to be Princess Ariel Cinderella of the great big castle!! )

We named our little girl Madam Molly Mae. I wanted to name her Miss Molly Mae but it was already taken and she would have had a number after her name. It is kinda funny with the Madam. Connie K

Do all yorkies have to be registered even if they're pets and not going to be shown? Teddy is 5 months old now and I haven't registered him.

In order to register them they have to be eligible through AKC or one of the other kennel clubs. Your breeder would have given you the paperwork. But no, they don't HAVE to be registered if they're a pet. Really, it was just fun for me to give him an "official" name and get a certificate in the mail. :D

Tootie is CKC... he is Hartley's Teddy Bear(he was supposed to be called Bear, it just didnt stick-unless he is bad, then he isBEAR! haha

Hope is AKC... she is Reggie's Hopeful Demitasse of La.... I wanted her to be named for her mommy Reggie and Demitasse is in Reggies registered name so there ya go!

Little Man Riley of Oak Run...AKA Wiley, Wiley Riley and Snuggy Boy.

A friend of ours had a Golden Retriever named E.L. Scheuster. The E.L. stood for Everybody Loves...they were right...he was a pretty good dog.

Yorkie before Mackie was Jet,his name was Sgt.Peppers Silly Love Song.!!
