Hating his leash hi all, I finally bought Peanut a harness because he's starting puppy education soon. anyways, yesterday when I attached a leash onto the harness, Peanut would just flop onto the ground and not move. He just lays flat on the ground with his legs spread and his chin resting on the ground... i tug on the leash and yea he won't get up. haha, i felt like i was mopping the kitchen floor with his body. any advice? he looks pretty depressed too. If he finally does get up from my tugging, he hides in a corner and just looks at me : ( anyone else's yorkie do this? any advice? thanks! |
The first time I put the leash on Chachi in the house he did that too. I carried him outside where there were people an things going on and put him down. He started to walk on the leash. After that he didnt do it anymore so I would try that. |
hi, welcome,,, yes lexi did the same thing when i first got her.. i think they are afraid of the leash and harness.. its new to them of course... i wouldnt tug on it though.. just try everyday and believe me he will get used to it.. dont scare him . he doesnt know what it is,, |
My little guy did that the first few times also. I would just carry him but he could see the other two dogs walking and decided he would rather be with them. They get use to it pretty quickly. |
Ah, he'll get over it. Just take him someplace fun. He won't be able to resist! :D I love powting yorkies... |
Oh, what I did was after I put on her leash I would hold up her favorite treat in front and say things like "come get it!" and she would follow the treat.. I did this for a minute or two everyday and increased it so she could get used to it! |
my macy is the same way. She hates her leash and when ever we put it on her she looks at us like we are nuts lol. :animal36 |
Well, mine doesn't hate hers at all. She's in love with it! I keep it in an end table by the couch in the family room, but when I'm feeling lazy I just lay it on top of the table. Kacee will climb up the arm of the couch and stare over the arm looking at her leash trying to hint for me to take her for a walk! I tell you that I think she'd never come in if she didn't get tired!:D |
