Teary Eyes My yorkie gets stains on his coat right under his eyes. its ALWAYS wet. what do i do to stop this? when i took him to the vet, they said there are antibiotics i could put him on to stop him from watering so much....BUT she said most people dont like to put their dogs on antibiotics for a reason like...teary eyes. i need suggestions, what should i do? when i bathe him i try washing under his eyes and mildly blow drying it to dry it out....but it will only look dry for that day. please help. what do u do? |
I had that same problem, when i took roxie to the vet, i explained to him she was having a bad cough which i thought was kennel cough, and her eyes were very runny, turns out she had tonsilitus and its all because of the pollen thats out right now, so he put her on antibiotic for her tonsils and eye drops 3 times a day called dexacidin, and it works. Her eyes will sometimes water when shes outside, but thats normal, she may have some type of seasonal allergy like my dog, i would check it out next time you go to the vet, but if it gets worse, it can be a serious issue, with the tear ducts and would take her to the vet right away good luck with your babie! |
Yorkie Trait? Sorry but all Yorkies, have teary eyes. For what ever reason it is a Yorkie trait. Both my male and female have teary eyes so it's not gender specific or anything like that. I wash their eyes daily as part of their grooming routine, I used to use pre-moistened baby wipes, I've tried cotton balls with a solution that I found at the Pet Store and another one that I found at the Groomer's. But nothing works better than good old fasioned soapy warm water on a facial tissue. Really diluted so it doesn't get in his eyes. A Breeder in California, told me to give them distilled water.....he explained that the tear stains drain the minerals from the water? That was the first time I've heard that so I don't know how true it was? But none of his dogs had any tear stains or watery eyes? |
thanx thanks u guys for the replies! i wish he didnt tear up so much! he is ruining his coat! i'm going to try the soap and water daily b/c i was only cleaning it when i would bathe him. thanks! |
I wash Chelsey's face every morning and she has no tear strains at all! |
