what do you do when your dong eats plastic? well im in the process of moving. I have alot of little pieces of games, beads extc. laying around in my room. my puppy (coco) goes in there all the time when im not home. Well on Saturday,he went in my room & got a piece of plastic stuck in his gum/tooth. We brought him to the vet, and they told us they didnt see anything. But i looked before we brought him and i saw a plastic purple bead in his gum stuck/chewed. i think he swalloed it :( but he is very irritable. I think he has a scratch and it is very sore. I am planing on bringing him back to the vet for medication. please reply to my thread thankyou!!!:) |
hi gina, welcome to yorkie talk ... im gonna bump this up so someone else can give you advise. im stuck on this on... hey guys see if you can help with this one. this is a very special girl to me.. this is my boyfriends daugher, im so glad she joined.. |
I have some dog first aid information that says for dogs that have ingested sharp objects (like glass shards) to soak a cotton ball (make sure it is real cotton not the cosmetic puffs) in Half & Half and (depending on the size of your dog), either tear into 1/4 or 1/2 and feed to your baby. The sharp object will get caught in the cotton and eventually work it's way out of the digestive system in cushioned comfort. If the plastic was chewed - the edges would be sharp and probably hurt and they move through his body. I haven't tried the above process myself, but I have it posted in case I ever need it. Hope this helps. P.S. Welcome to YT. |
bumpimg this up |
thank you jodi for that information... |
Chachi has eaten plastic objects and always passed them. I have read that if they have eaten a sharp object to feed them bread. I would take your dog to the vet right away also. |
gina, i thought the plastic was stuck in his teeth???? |
thankyou thankyou for that information |
yes lexi rae yes it is stuck in his mouth im not sure if it was on his tooth or gum....but it was in there somewere:animal36 :animal-pa  |
Oh I misunderstod then I thought it was caught in his teeth but then he swallowed it |
i know she told me that he had it stuck in his tooth, but dont know if it is still there.. g---is it still in his mouth...???? need to check it ok?? |
he wont let me check he wont really let me look, i just looked i didnt see anything...is it bad if he swollowed it? |
Well if the object is sharp it could cut him internally. That is why you would feed him bread or cotton balls. If it is too large for him to pass it could cause a blockage in the intestines. |
