Abbie is home now what? ok so we have brought Abbie home and she seems to be doing just great....the problem is that Gracie does not seem to care for her at all. She runs away and hides whenever Abbie comes near her. When she does allow Abbie near her she drops her head towards the floor and puts her tail between her legs....any suggestions and what I can do to make Gracie more comfortable with Abbie? PS... Pics to come later...gotta load them |
I had this same problem when we brought Hootie home last month. We thought Hobbs would just be in LOVE with her, bc he loves every other animal that he meets. So, we were surprised at how he acted by not accepting Hootie at first. Just make sure that you give your older yorkie LOTS and LOTS of love and attention. You don't want her to feel like she is being punished by you bringing this new puppy home. Make sure you monitor their time together. Your older yorkie may try to beat up on the puppy a little, at least Hobbs did. But, give them about a week. It only took about a week or a week and a half for Hootie and Hobbs to become the best of friends! The main thing is to try to keep everything as normal as possible for your older yorkie. It is traumatizing enough for her to have a new little sister! She will come around...just give it a few days :D CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS on the new addition! :p |
I know you are thrilled. Give the girls time to adjust :) |
I had the same problem when Tootie came, with my Chi/mix girl... it took them a few days for him to realize that she is not a puppy and it took her a few days to realize he WAS... they worked it out, and Tootie still walks into her and puts his head down as she growls at him... she has never bitten, its like a game they play now... |
Kinda going through the same, Rosi and Poli playing, but today Rosi is kinda sad, trying to Baby her a little more. She likes Poli but she is set in her routines everyday, hope they will be the best of friends soon ! |
