Add this to your yorkie's emergency numbers list! YUck, I just had the worst scare. I was moving appliances around in the kitchen to sweep and took a break to get on the computer. I heard Brandy chewing on something and found Brandy in the kitchen corner chewing on a old roach trap! (one of those black bait trays by Combat) It was an old one from a year ago that I didn't see when I pushed the stove back. She must have seen it and was able to paw it to get it. Even though she only had it for 30 seconds she had chewed a couple holes through the label. I looked on the internet for poison control numbers and found one that would charge $45! I kept looking and found a FREE 1800 number! This lady was SO helpful and knowledgable. She said that the dog would have to get the center out (I don't know what that looks like since I didn't give her the opportunity to) and eat lots of them in order to do any harm. She said that the middle of them are peanut butter flavored and that's why dogs seek them out. The website offered a lot of poison help and stuff around the house or the yard that can be dangerous. Our yorkies are so little I worry because I don't think it would take much to hurt them. Anyways, I'm so relieved that she will be fine, but of course I'm still going to keep her close to me and probably be up all night worried about her because I'm a big worrywart and feel guilty. Here is the poison control number to put on the fridge: 800-222-1222 Remember that anything can happen with these curious little terriors. My pug just stared at her while she did it. She's a pain in the butt but I love her anyways. No matter how careful you might be it only takes a second for something bad to happen. Here is the website: http://www.mitoxic.org/pcc/petsplants/ love ya all! |
Glad to hear your baby was not hurt. They sure can give you scares! Thanks a lot for the phone number and the link! This is very helpful and interesting. I didn't know how many plants are toxic for dogs and I may have to remove some. |
Whew! Thank God your little guy is going to be ok! Thats a great website! I've always wondered why people think its safe to put all those fertilizers and pesticides all over their homes and lawns. That stuff is SO Toxic...and the rain doesn't make it go away...it just seeps into the lawn and the Water Tables below. And then they let their kids and pets go play on it! Many of these products are huge Carcinogens for both Pet and Humans. I once saw a man spraying Weed Killer on his lawn...while walking his three year old little girl by his side....I've never seen anything more ignorant in my life. I have a friend who lobbied to prohibit Chem-Lawn and other similiar companies from spraying in her town...and she won! I think all of that stuff should be banned or severely limited....there must be more pet/human friendly alternatives out there! Francie |
So glad your kid is all right, and thanks for the number and link. I just put it in my book and I hope I never need it! |
thanks for the number, glad your baby is ok |
