Tell me what you think.... puppy I am looking for a buddy for Mason and I looked on that breeders.net and saw that theres a breeder like 20 miles away that I didnt know about. I called and she has 2 little 9 week boys for sale. They are aca registered and you get a 5 gen. pedigree with it. I asked about a guarantee and she said..well, the only guarantee is that there healthy when you get them. They come with two sets of shots, 3 wormings and papers. I dont know much about the aca but is that an ok registeration? The price is what floored me.......granted they are pet quality but still.. $285.00. I said WOW and asked her why and she said "nobody wants boys, everybody wants little girls!! What you all think? I told her that when i had time id pop on out but not sure when so id probably just show up and she was great with that. She said Not a problem. have both parents on sight... so...What you all think>? |
I say go check it out . . .and see for yourself . .then you'll know if you'd want to get one from her. |
wow, i'd be somewhat curious, i'd be checking references and vet.. that's "cheap" for a yorkie! |
I think that you should at least check it out. It is true that a lot of breeders drop their prices for males because females are in more of a demand but that price is so low! I would maybe write up something like a contract that states that if you do buy one and take it to the vet and it is unhealthy that she will have to refund you the money. Just to make sure you have something in writing. It's worth a try. Besides if you bombard her with the right questions you will get to know what kind of breeder she is and whether you should stay away from her. By the way don't worry about ACA, unless you are showing your dog. Coco is ACA and really I see no difference. I'm not planning to show her so I didn't really care. Infact the next dog I get I won't even register them, no point really. I would place that lowest in priority in terms of concerns. But that's just me. |

I am not surprised at all . Look at the majority of puppies wanted , peoples are mostly wanting females . Some breeders place their males at lower prices because the pups can have a chance for a new home . |

For the price being asked I think that is a very standard guarantee. If you're wanting another one, I would go take a look. |
I would at least get her to agree to a 24 hour or 48 hour vet check. That is the lowest price I have ever heard of. |
I dont think with that low of a price your going to get a quarantee |

pup For $285 you would not get any guarantee from me or just about any breeder I know. A lifetime guarantee just does not exist among anyone I know...and if you gave me $20,000 for a pup I would not give a lifetime...many health factors are due to lifestyle..dogs are much like us humans..eat poorly and get no exercsie and you have problems as you age..if the teeth are not cared for, a Yorkie can wind up with heart and kidney disease..etc... When you go to the pound or a rescue you will pay anywhere from $150 to $300..so I think this pup is a bargain..let us know.. |

omg...285??? labs are more expensive than that here. wow i would love to see. take your camera to get a picture and show us what a 285.00 yorkie looks like. that is a great deal |
I would definetly check it out... did you ask how much the females usually are? how old are these puppies, ACA puppies are usually harder to sell also because everyone likes the AKC better. Its recognized more highly than other registries... check it out and let us know! |

Akc Papers are not important to me unless I was breeding/show the pup...I have not registered Emee and will not..why give AKC my money for a pup that will never have pups?? So if I liked a pup I would buy it for that price...papers or not.. |
I wouldn't be so concerned about the ACA thing...Although I do prefer AKC, for no other reason than they have been around forever...And I asked a friend who is a yorkie/rottie breeder what the difference was and she told me that ACA, CCA(?) are cheaper to register the litters. I am buying another puppie from the same breeder that I bought Sadie from. I am paying $1200.00 for her....the only health guarentee that I get is when she goes for a well puppy check. If at that time something is wrong she will take the puppy back and refund my money...I get a little skeptical when a breeder sells a puppy with a long HG...makes me think they HAVE to in order to sell their puppies...JMO. |
If you dont plan to breed him then its okay. but its just weird how they do their registry i was going to buy a puppy once aca and it didnt seem quite right to me.... |

  Excuse me! All reputable breeders include AT LEAST a one year health guarantee ...THIS PROTECTS the BUYER not the breeder. I am dumbfounded you would even make a comment like this! A breeder that only offers to take the puppy back if he/she doesnt pass the puppy well check is the one hiding something or simply doesnt want to be bothered with the pup any longer.  :thumbdown |
I keep getting told that for 285.00 I wouldnt get any guarantee of any sort. I thought a 1 yr was standard, but i find myself usually wrong so...:p . Mason came from a vet so minor things are not covered byas in liver shunt and all that stuff..hes guaranteed. Staci Snyder off here bought a pup from her to and has the same. |

If you're just looking for a pet, not a dog for showing or breeding, you can probably determine most everything you need to know from that visit - especially since both parents are on the site. They should at least provide a suggestion about size and general appearance of the pups as they grow up. The fact that she doesn't mind your just popping in without an appointment suggests that her place is in good order and she doesn't have anything to hide. Everybody on here knows what it's like to fall in love with a puppy immediately. That's all you really need. While I appreciate a health guarantee with a puppy, I think about adopting a child. Do children come with health guarantees? You fall in love, you take responsibility and you handle what happens. Go look. Then take it from there. |
WELL DARN IT!! I contacted the breeder and she said both males were gone....I find that kinda odd considering I contacted her again last night and still had both and no calls but maybe im just crushed. :( Ohwell..must not have been meant to be. |

I would definitely go and see these little boys. $285 ??? Sometimes there just aren't a lot of people in a given area looking for a certain breed. I know a woman who priced her pups simply by looking in the paper and seeing what her particular breed was selling for (which is totally fair) ... Then she advertised in her small town newspaper and got no calls. So, she advertised in a nearby larger paper and still got no replies. Finally, she advertised in my much larger town's newspaper, and she said she got about 12 calls before noon. And - the first call purchased the pup. Plus, they drove 200 miles to see and purchase it. She said they were just totally delighted with the puppy (they were an older couple who wanted a little dog to travel all over the United States with them in their motor home -- how sweet!!!!) PS: She was selling a "small" male, registered Yorkie (parents were about 5 pounds) for $850. I think this was a good price. ***** So - realizing how "selling puppies" can sometimes go - I would run out and take a look. Good luck! Carol Jean |
I am so sorry for you!!! I will help you pray about finding a buddy for Mason! Maybe She-Ra could help a little. After all she loved Mason!! |
