Showing signs of agrression!!! I have just come from holiday (5 days) in which time Pippa has been looked after by my mum and dad. The day after we came back my daughter picked her up and she growled/snarled at her!! The next day when i was playing with her she growled/snarled at me too. Now today she has gone for the cat!! She is 23 months and has never ever shown any agrresssion before! I have been able to speak to my mum as of yet to find out if anything could ahve happened to make her suddenly turn into a different dog. Anyone have any theories or of anything i can do to get her abck to the lovely baby she was? |
I wonder if she resents the fact that you left her, and this is her way of showing you anger. Hopefully she will get back to normal after she is back in her regular surroundings. If not, you could probably find the problem addressed on one of the animal behavior websites. Keep us posted! (Good luck:) ) |
Is she spayed or could it be she is in heat? |
She is spayed |
personality after spaying Maybe she is just mad cause you left her. |
I have left her several times and always with my mum, and she's sulked a bit before but never anything like this. |
I really don't think dogs "get mad" at people for leaving them for a while - and, even so, they are usually happy to be back together and things quickly return to normal. I would think that only a day or two of what you call "different behavior" might not be anything to worry about....especially since she is back in her usual environment with you. And - she hasn't behaved this way for very long - so you can just "nip it in the bud." Let her know quickly and firmly that it's not acceptable - but, at the same time, don't make a real issue of it. ***** I have a shy, submissive Bichon - and heard him growl for the first time in his life when he was four years old. That was a year ago, and I haven't heard him growl since then. So - he had his "day." Good luck! Carol Jean |

She seems to be back to normal with us now, only she still dont like the cat!! |
That's very good news, except for the cat of course! Maybe in time she will grow to tolerate the cat, but at least the aggressive behavior has passed. Glad to hear it.:) |
