there are too many homeless dogs in the world to begin with. personally i would NOT breed for that reason. there are too many health risks anyway. if you fix your pet from the beginning they are not missing out on any part of their life, if anything they live longer to enjoy it. sorry, but i think pets should be fixed, and rescues should be given homes.

I will spay my Gracie has I have done all of my pets. It is the responsible and healthy thing to do. A breeder I am not and I don't want Gracie getting into trouble!

My puppy buttons is 6 months and I agree I will not spay or neuter her. In every sense I wouldn't want it done to me :) I think there are more health risks in getting your pet spayed or neutered than not.

Hello? Please read two of the threads here - preciousmommy is only 12 years old. Don't beat her up people! Some of these replies are a little harsh! I don't disagree with what you all are saying but c'mon! SHE'S ONLY 12!!!!! I think admin should close this thread before - if I was 12, I might cry reading some of these replies. What she said was very innocent and typical of a 12 year old so get a grip people! and don't worry, all mine are neutered/spayed.

You're right. I don't think we knew she was 12. Doesn't excuse what some wrote regardless...but you know what I mean. ;)

I think 12 years old is as good a time as any to learn the pros and cons of spaying and neutering and having puppies. In fact, it's too bad a lot of people didn't learn it sooner than they did.

I think she feels the way a lot of 12 year olds might feel. But, so far, she has only been exposed to the good things about having puppies. And, there are a lot of wonderful things about a new litter of little puppies.

Definitely, she shouldn't be critized - she just needs to hear about the good reasons for spaying and neutering our pets. Also - there is a lot to learn about having puppies too.

All my pets (dogs and cats) have been spayed and neutered. I'm not in any position to raise puppies (largely because I work and can't be home to take care of these little mothers and their new pups). Plus my animals are "pets." This is the real reason I have them.

But - seriously - we all know that having puppies isn't always a joyful and wonderful experience for a dog...... and it shouldn't be considered a good reason to have puppies.

You never Know how old someone is posting, so imo we should always be careful and considerate with what we say. Some things people say on here can be very hurtful. The world is so full of mean spirited and rude people. We dont need to make YT a place like that! :)
Preciousmommy was simply stating how great it is to take her little pup to see its mommy

Although yt is fun and great for sharing, one of the best parts is the chance we have to educate. Buttons, welcome to yt. I am sure if you check into some of the threads here on this subject, or learn through books or other sites on the internet, you will find that the health risks of leaving your pet intact far outweigh the risks of the procedure. Responsible pet owners that love their pets and want them to live long and healthy lives spay and neuter.
