Please consider another option before resorting to the garage....There are plenty of people looking for older dogs and I bet you can find a great home for him. You may want to talk via PM to Cindy - Livingdustmops for help on this - she's very involved in Yorkie Rescue.

i am beginning to introduce my baby to the dog slowly...looking at him through the gate, screen door, etc...but its going to take time.

knowing where he is and knowing he is safe is more improtant than him being miserable with a stranger who may treat him badly, i think.

There are so many people from NY here on YT that I am sure would be willing and able to take this yorkie into their home where it will be able to get more attention. I am sure that the original owner could come visit and check on the yorkie anytime that he wanted to.

this this things.. my puppy has NEVER EVER EVER been put in another room at any time by herself, but thats just me
I feel the same way you do. I think it's cruel to only spend a mere 2 hours a day with a dog. That's just awful. Dogs are PACK animals, they NEED companionship. They don't like to be alone. If you re-homed your Yorkie with a loving, wonderful family, he would miss you in the beginning but get over it eventually because he'd be so happy to be with people all the time. 2 hours a day is NOT enough.

How do you know they wont. If he goes to a home where there are no kids and the poster tells them what his problems our I bet he finds a home where they have more patience and flexibility for him. The alternative is he lives like a kenneled dog with little interaction.

i really appreciate eveyrone's thoughts, comments, and advice...everyone has interesting things to say and i appreciate eveyone's time. This is a very difficult topic for me, so i'm going to sign off now...thanks again.

I agree with your entire post. But I just wanted to add my my babies would die of a broken heart if they were locked in a garage, alone, all day long. They would just die from being so sad. I could never live with myself if I kept my dogs in a garage with only 2 hours of human contact. It\'s just not enough! I\'m so sad for this little guy. He must be starving for attention all day long and 2 hours doesn\'t cut it. :( :(

I really doubt that he will be miserable with another person . I am sure that if someone really cared for him , he would change .

yep...I agree... You know its kinda like this...Would you want to be away from your family you have known your whole life by being kept in a garage in a pen with 2 hrs or less of interation....I know I wouldn\'t

I feel bad, too. I can\'t even imagine how hard this decision must be. He obviously loves his yorkie, but I think he just honestly doesn\'t know what to do! I mean, what would YOU do if YOU had a baby and your yorkie for some reason was aggressive towards it?? I think he genuinely wants what is best for his yorkie, but he knows in his heart that it is just not a good idea to leave the yorkie in the garage; otherwise he wouldn\'t have started this thread. What a hard decision. :confused:
