Does yorkie + yorkie = big housetraining problems?!?! Hi, I currently own a 5 month old male yorkie, and I had planned on getting another, but a breeder recently cautioned that having both a male and female in the same household might cause the male to have an increased desire to mark territory, even if both are spayed/neutered. However, I was told having two males in the same household is a bad idea as well, because it would eventually give rise to pack issues and territory marking problems? I'm beginning to think the only way one can have more than one yorkie, and not have to deal with major housetraining problems, is to have all females. Obviously, that's not an option for me, but I also know I absolutely could not deal with dogs peeing all over my house, so am I fated to owning just one? :o( Thanks, Anna |
I have 2 males and 2 females. I don't have that marking problem and my oldest male was just neutered a few months ago. |
I know that from my experience having max and then molly coming over didn't change him a bit I mean He started to get a little bit better at training actually! And on top of that I can't wait to get my little girl! In my opinion I love the thought of two yorkie's much more than one! |
I don't think there is a propblem if all are spayed/neutered ASAP. If you have breeding dogs then there is a problem. |
4 males here I have 4 males 3 poodles and yorkie, none of them have ever marked and the oldest one is 9 yrs. old. They are all neutered. I think its when they aren't neutered that they mark, I would neuter young to avoid any unpleasant happenings. |
I think it just depends on the dog.... My tootie NEVER marked until some "strange" dog came into our home to visit... he did it only while that dog was here and doesnt do it now.. I have 3 other dogs of my own, 1 male and 2 females... Tootie will be neutered this Wednesday.... d |
