Is This Normal? I know that as litter mates and brothers that they are gonna play a lillte rowdy with eachother but peeka and boo are really rough they growl and bark at eachother too sometimes it seems a little visouce i was wondering is this normal play or are the starting to be too aggressive now that they are settleing in? :animal-pa |
Don't worry, it's totally normal. My two still play rough and they will be 1 year in Aug. I love watching them play, and then if Kona the kitty gets in the mix, all hell breaks lose. In less one of them yelps, you have nothing to worry about, my two go at it on their hind legs... :animal37 |

I recently purchased a 12 week old yorkie. When my older yorkie 2.5 years tries to discipline her the puppy seems to growl and fight back instead of submitting. I don't know what is considered just play and what is considered squaring off. Hopefully my puppy is like yours and its only in fun. |

As long as, when one yelps the other lets go, they are doing fine. If the other would not let go, then I would intervene |

It's a known fact that these little terriers are tenacious and tough ---true to their nature. My new 8-week-old pup made life not-too-pleasant for my 21-pound Bichon for the first month or so. The pup just wouldn't leave my Bichon alone for a second, and his favorite pasttime was riding around the house holding onto one of the Bichon's ears.....when he wasn't doing other play-things to torment him (including growling, biting, and running all over the top of him). Anyway - my four-year-old Bichon is the sweetest, most gentle thing in the world and simply drug the little terror to me several times a day to unhook from one of his ears. And - several times a day, I put my Bichon on my bed and closed the door or put him outside so he could get some peace and quiet and a much needed respite from this never-ending little puppy machine. The end result is that they have become fast friends and romp and play together constantly. I can't describe what good friends they have become. So - given the above scenerio - I can imagine how two Yorkie pups might play together - and get rough at times. I am sure that this is very normal and that they will settle down a little when they get older ---but let's hope they continue to play and enjoy one another's company forever! Carol Jean |
Yorkie puppy growls & barks during playtime with toys I have a 5 month old female Yorkie who has a TON of energy and plays with hey toys all the time. The problem is that when she plays, she will growl as she holds the toy in her mouth, and bite on it pretty hard. The if she gets carried away, she will bark at her toys in a very high pitched LOUD bark. Should I be concerned? Is this aggressive behavior that may become a problem into adulthood? ANy insight would be a huge help!!! |
