Has anyone else's puppy acted like this? Kizzy doesnt scratch much most of the time, but I've noticed her rubbing against my chair or couch or other peices of furniture when she walks by it like she might be itching. I"m not really sure if that is why or what. looks like a cat when they rub around your legs. She doesnt do it a lot but takes spells of it especially after her bath. I'm beginning to wonder if it could be the pet silk tropical shampoo and conditioner. I didnt notice her doing that when I used other shampoos. I've used mane and tails (which I didnt like for her) and I tried my own while waiting for her pet silk order to come and I never noticed her doing this before I started using it. Anyway, next bath she gets i'm going back to the old baby shampoo and see how that works. She was eating iams then just kinda quit for 2 days and would smell it and walk away until late in the day and I guess she just got hungry and ate it finally. Then I changed her to beneful which she seems to like but she ate that before using this shampoo and didnt seem to itch. She also ate the eukanuba for the first month I had her and didnt seem to itch with that either. So first i'mma try going back to my old shampoo and see it it helps and if that dont work, i'mma change her dog food to kibbles and bits and see if that helps. Since i'm not sure if its her food or shampoo or if she is even itching. She doesnt sit around a scratch herself with her paw a lots, mainly when I take her harness off at night for a few minutes. She doesnt have fleas, so has anybody else seen their puppy rubbing against the edge of their couch or chair or any furniture? and if so did you figure out if she/he was itching or just liked the way it felt or something. I dont think her skin is dry or she would be scratching more. |
That's a dog thing! They mark their environment with their personal scent and after a bath they have to do that all over again. Don't worry, that's perfectly normal behaviour! :aimeeyork |
Lacy did it her entire life and she was not doing it because she was itchy. She would do it down the hall. In fact, I had to paint a 4 inch strip very frequently because the oils in her coat would make the paint dingy looking. |

My little girl goes completely nutz! after i give her a bath, rubbing on every thing, spinning on the bed and rubbing along the floors, she's just crazy!!!... But yeah its a dog thing, |
My oldest boy, Maxx does that all the time! In the mornings, he'll tunel his way under the blankest and roll over and wiggle back and forth. He'll run thru the living room and rub up against the furniture, from one end to the other! My other two do it, but not nearly as much. |
wow, thanks. that is good to know. yes sometimes she rubs her head and face in my rug in front of hubbys recliner where she plays a lot when he is home. |

Topher does it all the time. Especiallly if he has a tshirt on or his harness...but he does it without them on as well. He loves rubbing upagainst the wall in my bedroom for some reason. It'looks like he's trying to scratch himself, or something, I'm not sure, but he's done it since he's been a pup. After a bath is another story...he rubs on everything and anything...our other dog used to do this as well. I think they're just trying to get rid of the 'clean' lol!! |
Yep, Hannah does it too. Around the recliner and the new couch, looks like a different color on the bottoms from all the hair and oils. LOL |
Perfectly normal. Sissy rubs her entire body sideways along the floor after her bath especially and also after I take her pony tail out for the day. She will also do it to try to get the pony out after I put it in!! |
Has anyone else's puppy acted like this? I was so glad to see this thread!!! I was looking for something else when I came across it. :) Ginger does the same thing and here I was thinking she must be itchy or something. How glad I am that I found this thread where you all are talking about your furbabies doing this. I was giving Ginger a firm "no" when she does this but I will stop doing that from now on!! I think it really has to do with putting their scent back on things b/c after I vacuum the couch, loveseat, and chairs, Ginger goes crazy rubbing herself on everything!! When she gets home from the groomer, she does this and I thought she was trying to get her bow out of her hair!! I am really laughing about this now as this thread made me realize that she does it whether or not she has a bow or her harness on!! Thanks for the great entries from each of you!! |
pixie does this, after a bath |
