Barking, Barking, Barking - HELP! I love my little girl, but she barks at everything! I tried a bark collar when she was younger, but it broke my heart the first time she yelped. So the collar went in the trash and since then, I haven't attempted any other way. I have tried to firmly tell her to stop when she begins, and she'll pause for a second, and get back to barking. Does anyone else have this problem with their yorkie, or is mine just overly vocal? |
My Yorkie isn't that much of a barker, unless my parents are watching him. He then apparently proceeds to bark at everything. My mom and are hooked on this new show on the National Geographic channel. The show is called the Dog Whisperer and the hosts name is Cesar Millan. He has a web site http://dogpsychologycenter.com/ We have picked up alot of great ideas from him. One of his things is too make the ssshhhhh noise at the dog when they are doing something wrong and point at them. Or telling them hey! So far with my little Alex this seems to work. They don't like the noise. It also has been working with my parents Yorkapoo...Hope this help! :aimeeyork |
I too had this problem,, Try a squirt bottle, it didnt seem to work for me,, at first, but then all the sudden he hates it, and is quiet immediatley, Now if he starts I just reach for it and he stops.. its worth a shot! Good Luck! :) |
I have the problem with Gracie barking. She will bark excessively until she gets tired. I have this problem at night when she has to sleep in her bed and I am in my bed she will pace back and forth from side to side and bark for hours! I am still dealing with this and luckily I dont have to work early in the mornings because I have long nights of barking and when I yell no at her she gets mad and barks louder she is terrible when it comes to barking. I am still trying to come up with a solution for this because soon enough she is going to have to be crated and in another room. I hate to that because she is old enough now to be out of her crate at night but if the excessive barking doesnt stop I may have to try the squirt bottle. |
Spray your troubles away! Our breeder suggested that we spray Kiwi with some water when she tries going potty in the wrong place, she also said that this works for behavioral problems. Just don't get too trigger happy! No one likes to be cold and wet! Generally one spray accompanied by a firm no, should do the trick. I have also read somewhere that adding a tiny drop of vinegar helps. I haven;t tried it because i worry that it will irritate her eyes. If anyone has tried this vinegar added to water method let me know. |
