Chewing on Rugs So we just bought a new rug for our dining room and Benji decided to go at the corner while we were at work. I don't know what to do. My boyfriend was really mad because we just got it. He knows that he is in trouble every time he chews a little more of it. Yesterday I get home and he started chewing on my rug in front of the door. That has been there since before Benji so I don't know why he jsut started doing it. Does anyone know if there is some spray (that actually works) or anything I can do to make him stop doing this? We used to put him in a pen while we were gone but he climbs out of it now and I am afraid he is going to hurt himself. Please Help!!!!! |
This thread caught my eye for sure. My Yorkie chewed up 13 throw rugs over 7 months! Corners only. He touched nothing else but those corners got him everytime. I replaced the rugs because I could not stand looking at missing corners. Try bitter apple, eventually I bought it and it really helped. He touches nothing now but I still have a couple each missing one corner! Good luck. |

When my lab was a puppy, he chewed up corners of my coffee table, a section of my KITCHEN FLOOR, shoes, clothing, and about 14 dog beds. I can't even tell you how many toys he destroyed...If it was sitting still, he chewed on it, This went on during his teething phase, and then adolescent phase, you didn't say how old your yorkie is? These 2 things could be some reasons why he is doing it. I tried bitter apple and it was like my puppy said to me, "thanks, you seasoned it!" and kept right on chewing... Tabasco sauce worked. I dabbed a little on in the places he chewed, he tried to nibble, but the sauce made him sneeze like crazy and he never did it again. |

Good luck, just to warn you some dogs actually like it. Mine did not. It is very bitter. Hopefully yours won't. Read directions because it needs to be reapplied more than once. It will not damage anything. |
I am going through the same thing with Mimi. She has chewed my baskets, rugs, shoes, corner walls (down to the metal), wooden chest, bedroom furniture, etc...... I bought bitter apple and it works wonders for us. She hates it! Timmy on the other hand is not a chewer. They carry it at Petsmart...that is where I bought mine. Good luck! |
