When will Bubbles ears stick UP?? Hi!! Bubbles is my first Yorkie, so I am still learning more and more about her and her breed every day, I love it! I was wondering though, when will her ears stick up? Her momma and daddy both had upright ears, but hers are still floppy! I dont know if it takes a while, but I have seen other yorkies her age (2 months) whos ears are already completely upright. I know with my chi's, their ears didnt go completely up until they were done teething. Will this be the case with my yorkie too? What should I do if they don't go up? any comments or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!!:aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
How old is your furbaby? Do you keep the ears tipped and free of hair? Excessive hair will weigh down the ears of little ones and must be groomed. You can also try massaging the ears and if it comes down to it, have the ears taped. |
my baby is going on 4 months :aimeeyork and his ears are standing up already, i didnt shave the tips of his ears or anything i said if they are going to stand they will do so on their own. I just trim the edges with a scissor but very carefully |

Their ears can go up and down - sometimes one will be up and one down - before they are permanently up. At 2 mths. I wouldn't worry too much, but I would do as was suggested and keep the top 1/3 of her ears shaved close to lessen the weight on her ears. Teething definitely can affect their ears - they have been known to go down while the dog is teething and go back up when they are done. |

After you've been here a while, you'll take everyone's experiences into consideration and when you give advice, you'll remember how everyone's yorkies are different and won't be the same as yours. |
as far as I know, a puppy has only really just begun the teething phase around 4 mths and their ears may drop and not go back up until they are 7 or 8 mths or they may not go back up at all. It's different for all puppies though... Oscar's ears were up when I got him at 4 mths and I never saw them go down. |

I thought that teething may affect it, I just wasn't 100% sure because I didn't know that it happend with Yorks too! Bubbles is SO young, only 2 months, so I am sure they will go up soon then. One of my chi's, Cinderelly, her ears didnt go completely up until she was about 4 months or so. There was always one up, one down! Thanks everyone!!!! |
ears She has those ears that 99% of the time go up with little help..she is young, give her another 8 weeks...best wishes |
My puppy's ears were floppy for a long time. I tried to shave & tape at 3 months. They would stand up for a couple days before they fell. I gave up and waited until the 6th month, then I tried shaving & taping again, shaving & taping, shaving & taping. Poor thing. Luckily they stood up after 2 weeks of that lol. They've been up for the past 2 weeks. Sometimes one ear will flop after he wakes up, but will stand again after a few minutes. I don't know for sure how much he weighs, but I would estimate around 6-7lbs. |
Mine is 6 months old and her ears will not stay up. I've tried everything - taping, taping, taping, keeping them shaved, etc.... nothing helped. I've been told that after 6 months they probably won't stand. :( I'm really disappointed but what can I say? That's the way she is , I guess. Yours is still young enough - you've gotten some good advice here already. omega |

I know how you feel sami is now 16 mo and his ears are floppy :( and like you I have tried everything shaved, massaged, taped and more tape... I was wondering if a vet could possibly tape ears like they do for the bigger dogs? I have seen big dogs with their ears taped and I think they stay that way for a couple months? anyone have any info on this? Good luck with Bubbles ears and like omega said you have been given the best advice! like everyone says each baby is different, but she may just surprize you one day:D |
