help...barking in the crate hi everyone. i was just wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions. diddy is 10 months old and is still barking really loudly in the crate when we leave. i know he has major seperation anxiety because he even screams when we stop to park the car. he is able to go in the crate on command when i say "go home" and i give him a treat. however, once he's done with the treat, he barks as if somone is hurting him. he knows quiet but doesn't listen when he knows we are leaving. i don't know what to do. i tried pretending to leave for a few moments and return. that didn't work. i tried leaving toys, treats, kongs with peanut butter. that also didn't work. eventually he would bark. i thought it would go away as time went on but he's been doing this ever since i started crate training him when he was a baby. i'm afraid the neighbors in the apartment complex will complain one of these days because it is so loud. |
I have the same problem. Although Bailey's only 15 weeks old, he won't get over it. He barks for 30 min's sometimes! Have you tried shaking a can with change in it when he starts? I've tried that along with everything you've tried & he just won't quit... It's very frustrating and causing issues between my fiance & I :( I look foward to reading everyone else's suggestions |
Until I accidentally ran over my crate, no dog inside of it :p , Joey would get into it to escape the madness. He doesn't pee in the house, so didn't replace the crate. He has his spots in the house where he can escape to for some quiet time. Have you tried turning the crate to face the wall? Put the dog inside for say 5 minutes at a time every hour and let them know you are around. I don't know, probably trial and error. |
Asia used to cry when put her to bed at night. I started waiting until she went to sleep in the chair with me and then carrying her to bed. she will just lay down and go back to sleep and sleep all night without crying now. She is 12 weeks old. |
