I think Cindy (livingdustmops) has about ten rescues. She must not have seen your post yet. I agree there are so many her in the USA. |
thanks for replying i thought i was on my own here lol:D |
I would rescue a yorkie but unfortunatly I have a 4yr old and rescues do not want to adopt out to a family with small children. I have one yorkie that I purchased and she is wounderful with my 4yr old. If I could find a rescue that would let me adopt, I certainly would. meeshue |
I have 2 girls and a boy that I rescued . |

If I ever find a place like that I would defently rescue and there are not that many in new york:( |
Most small breed rescues advertise that the dogs are for families with older/or no children because alot of these dogs have come from homes where they were not socialized with kids or were abused. Most rescues will consider you if you have a small breed already and you ask them to do a home visit before they make a decision.Offering to foster the puppy/dog is a good way to let them know you and then you can adopt. |

I have a yorkie that I rescued from the local shelter here. She weighed about 3 lbs when I first got her. She had mange and a few of her front teeth had to be removed because they were so loose. I got her in April. I just recently noticed a small lump or "nodule" under her skin on her chest. I was so worried it was cancer or something. The vet checked it and turns out it was a BB. Can you believe someone shot her? Just makes me sick!!! They vet thinks she's about 8 or 9 but said it was hard to tell because her teeth are so poor. She was really almost hairless when I first got her because of the mange. She now is getting grey hair. I've read so much on here and now I went and got her that Missing Link and hopefully that will help her too. Oh Yea! she is up to 4lbs now too! |
i have a rescue. and i've had no problems with him... except that he's very vocal, but i dont mind. |
a yorkie mix almost got killed today. My sister just saved one this morning from being euthanized amoungst other dogs. She has decided to start her own rescue. It turns out some other society (not going to say what) decided not to go down to the pound and take pictures to post them on petfinder. So hardly any dogs have been adopted (people like to see pics first.) My sister is friends with the dog catcher who was supposed to euthanize a Dorkie (yorkie dachsund mix) this morning. He is super cute and the same size as my yorkie at about 6-7lbs. She's taking him to get his shots. If anyone's interested in knowing more I posted about him in the adoptions area of YT. This is in central IL btw. I think it's great when people are willing to open their hearts and homes to these little guys and give them a chance. |
