Do I need to worry about..... Do I need to worry about Tank playing with Lucy to rough and hurting her? Tank is our miniature Schnauzer and he's 21 lbs and Lucy is only 6 1/2 lbs. Their always play fighting and I'm always worried that Tank could really hurt Lucy. My step-dad and my husband says that he won't hurt her, that he know's he's bigger than her and will play easy and it may just not look like it. Every once in a while she yelps and I think it's more of a warning that "you getting to rough" and we tell Tank "NO" and he'll start being more easy but should I be more concerned or are my husband and step-dad right? When he really hurts her then you can tell by her yelp... and then she lunges at him teeth glaring...LOL We keep them in different parts of the house during the day b/c I don't trust them being together while were not home. Maybe when they get older and calm down a little. Right now their only 7 and 8 months and just as lpayful as any pup could be. I would really appreciate some peoples opinions Crystal |
There is definitely a chance for him to accidentally hurt her. I would say due to the size difference I would monitor the play time. |
Yea, we always monitor them while their together. Like right now their playing and Lucy has yelped a coulpe times but she just keeps on playing with him like I'll say easy Tank and he'll stop but she'll continue to keep biting his ears. That means she's not really hurt right????????? |
I actually use to let Louie around 5-5 1/2 lbs. play with my sister's shnowzer (sp?)....but they would play really rough and although I know that it was just playing it scared me that he may get hurt and I dont bring him there anymore. When they did play together though they had a ball and I would monitor them very closely...Good luck to you and Im sure everything will be fine as long as they are watched carefully. |
I let Rocky and my boxer play together, and Gizmo (boxer) is really gently with him. Of course they run around together, but Gizmo runs a lot slower with this dog, making sure not to step on him. Just keep a close eye on them, or even keep one on a leash so if you need to pull them apart right away you have easier access. |
