Modified silk???????? 2 Attachment(s) I think this little guy has a modified silk coat. I would like to hear your opinion as to what type coat you might think he has. He's 7months old, and a real cuttie!!! |
VERY good looking doggie! What is "modified" silk? |
I don't know what modified silk is either, but your dog is gor-ge-ous! |

I'm going to say he's soft to cottony. You can tell by his eye shine. Modified will be closer to a soft silk but not silk. Also, his ears tips are rounded and not pointed. he has a cute face, though. |
He is CUTE ! I heard you can really tell by the eye color from a camera flash - Most Silky yorkies really do have green eyes when a picture is taken with a lash - and my Chanel - who is cottony... gets the red eye color from a flash - and they SAY that's cottony coated - and she is. So ....judging from your picture - you probably have a modified coat on him .... he is very pretty.... |
Most very dark to black coats are very soft, cottony or wooly. Especially on the body and he looks be very dark and soft. But, his face has a nice look so keep doing what you are doing to his facial hair. His eye flash is also warm-meaning red, gold, yellow; as opposed to the cool colors of green, blue, aqua. Warm is soft coat. Does he mat at all? If so, how easily? Are they easy to comb out? Soft coats are really hard to keep straight and shiny. If he is easy to keep groomed and does not mat, he could be a little on the silky side. But, no matter what he is. He is one handsome dude!!!! |

3 Attachment(s) Does this mean that Kizzy will more than likely be more silky than cottony? She looks more cottony to me even tho her hair does NOT mat up. I cant remember her ever having a mat in her hair. most of he pictures show her eyes as green and she does not have pointy ears. She does however have big ears. lol well i just went thru her pics and some have the bluest eyes youve ever seen and a couple of em looks like her eyes are kinda yellow green and some has just really bright green eyes and some are her true color of black eyes. heehee. So eyes dont say much for her. So i've attached one of each. |
Whatever he has , he sure has a face modified to make me want him. Going back to your question he does seem to have a modified coat on his body.:animal36 |
i dont think its modified. He is georgeous!!! |
awww so cute :) |
Doing this on purpose???? Ok...you all are stumping me tonight.....first the Biro thing....then the green eye flash thing.....with the round ears thing....and the silky coat vs cottony.......what???? Now, that makes absolutley no sense to me, why the flash of the eyes has anything to do with coat.... Need a geneticist here tonight...!!!!! :questione :questione :questione |

coat IMO he is soft..he had a warm eye flash and that is rarely wrong. I have never had it be wrong..photo's can be be tricky..use a flashlight in a dark room for an accurate eye flash. The dog eye Doc explained to me why this is true and now I can not remember..LOL I will look in my book. Kizzy looks silk to me.. |

Looks modifed to me also. I have a cotton coat and she does follow the warm red/orange eyes when taking pictures, matts easy, is still pretty dark at over 1 1/2 years old. But her face hair is nice and silky and never mats. I love the colors. The legs are in between but the body is positively more cotton. Its hard to describe but if you think about a cotton swab and the tips sometimes gets a little fuzzy-its kind of like that on some hair parts. Bottom line- her hair is a mixture. :p |
