Ive niticed my puppy coughs alot just for a few seconds at a tiime. Nothing ever comes. Its almost like shes got a hairball. Could that be true? Dont forget shes 1/2 poodle so maybe that could play a factor.
I know coughing could be a sign of heartworms but at 12 weeks I think its unlikely. I hope anyways. Any feedback would be great. thanks

I'm not sure. I noticed that you have a cat in your avatar. Maybe she is getting cat hair in her throat and she's trying to get it up. I know poodles don't shed either unles it's just some loose puppy hair.

I posted on another thread about my 11 week old Yorkie coughing also. She is currently on antibiotics and cough meds but I also am giving her a little hair ball gell because I see her grooming herself and I read it is possible to get something similiar to hair balls.

Latte does this all the time. It does sound like a hairball, but it's really a collapsed trachea. My vet called it a backward sneeze. When I did some ressearch on the internet I was able to not stress about it. When she does it, I gently cover her nose to make her swallow. That stops it. I thought she had asthma and all sorts of other horrors. She's 4 and fine!

The Vet ruled out collapsed trachea on Ginger. That would have devasted me hearing that. Sounds like it can be controlled though on some dogs.

Could be Reverse sneezing is when the back of the throat spasms. The dog stands still, stretches out their neck, and often becomes bowlegged while they are trying to get air. It honks, wheezes, and often snorts during reverse sneezing episodes. Often the spasms will cease if they swallow a couple of times or if you close off their nostrils so it has to breathe through its mouth for a few seconds.
My two do this when they drink water to fast or get to excited.

This may also be a symptom of kennel cough.....please have your pup vet checked asap.
