My new puppy is sick Hi everyone. This is my first time visiting yorkie talk because i just got my sweet little puppy Bella two days ago. The first day and night was great, Bella seemed safe and happy. This night she was throwing up and pooping all over the place, the poo got more and more wet, and went completely watery this morning. What should i do? is it a good idea to give her some rice? i feel so sorry for her, she is so tiny... Any help would be much appreciated! |
I dont mean to scare u but take her to ur vet ASAP!!!!!!!!! please let us know what he says! Welcome to YT its great to have u here, we want the best for all our babies and we somehow get attached to yorkies on here without haven seen them and will never see them in real so please take ur baby to the docter i am concerned!! |
I agree. Get her to the vet. These little guys (and gals) have amazing recuperative powers, but very little by the way of resources should they get truly ill (I'm thinking of dehydration and hypoglycemia here). Good luck, and let us know what happens. |

Good luck and keep us posted as to what her vet said |
I'll be praying for your little one. Bo sends kisses! Let us know what the vet says. I'm not trying to scare you, but this does sound serious. You must get her to the vet ASAP. |
Oh, I'm so sorry. Please keep us posted and hopefully you can take her to a really good vet soon....one that knows how to treat Yorkie puppies. My Sophia got a little sick after she came home. Are you giving her Nutrical? Make sure to give her that to help her keep some strength while she is not well. |
Welcome!! And, congrats on your new baby. And, sorry to hear of her problem. When a person gets a new baby the first person they should see after the new mom, it the vet. Poop samples are essential.Stress causes all kinds of overgrowth of bad bowel bacteria and they can get really sick really quick. This advice is a day late and a dollar short but you hafta stay on top of these younguns and check amt of food and water and what the poo or vomitus looks like. Another good reason for taking a week off when a new baby comes home... If there is anything contagious, let your breeder know PDQ. I am surprised that the breeder didn't insist on a vet check to assure she sold you a safe and healthy puppy. What will she do if your baby has a medical problem? Did she spell that out in her sales agreement? Take really good care of her and you and she will have a really long, happy life together... |
Welcome to YorkieTalk!! You got great advices above...please do have a vet to check her, i hope she feels better soon:) Keep us posted:) |
 I agree with all that said get her to your vet ASAP.. I don't know what else to tell you.. Have you tried sugar water.. I make 2 tsp sugar to 2 tsp water.. It's worth taking her to the vet !! It's better to be safe then sorry.. I will be thinking of you and your baby.. I hope it's nothing serious.. Post us when you know when you get back.. Let us know how your baby is.. lots of hugs!!! Riddicks Mommy |
Thank you all so much for your caring thoughts and concern! I just returned from the vet, and he wanted us to bring back a sample of Bella's poo to analyze. He told us not to worry, but as you guys said, better safe than sorry! Thanks again, i will tell you all about how this turns out. |

Is she better? Did the doctor say what he thought it may be? |
My baby is doing better The results from the vet showed no sign of bacterias, but we got some meds to settle her tummy. Bella's already feeling better and now she is playing with her papi. :luvu: Thanks again everyone :) |
