How To Measure Temperature I did a search on how to take a dogs temperature but didn't seem to come up with any answers. So could anyone tell me how to measure a Yorkies temperature? I guess it's with an anal thermometer right? The reason I ask is my Bachee was neutered this past Thursday and also had 2 baby teeth removed. He seemed to be recovering fine until now. I just noticed his gums where his baby tooth was is now a little green. I guess it's a sign of infection. I called the vet twice but didn't get any answer. So I wanted to take his temperature to see if it's normal because he seems to be a little sluggish and his face is a little swollen too. |
Here's a link that shows you how to do a ear and anal measurement and what normal values are. I think the anal temperature is the most accurate. http://members.shaw.ca/oceansideboxe...emperature.htm |

Thanks for the website. It was very helpful. I will try and measure it now. I am very upset with the vet. He has an emergancy number which I have called several times and have gotten no answer. My dog is acting normal but his mouth is swollen and his gum is green. I hope he doesn't get worse before Monday when I can reach the damn vet. |
The swelling in the face doesn't sound normal, but the green is most likely due to chlorophyll being used to promote healing. Infection in the mouth shows up as an abscess (bump in the gum line). What was the temperature? |
His temperature was 99 on Saturday. I spoke to the vet's assistant last night and she saw his gums. They look much better than they did on Sat. She also said that the green was probably medicine because it's not there anymore. The swelling wasn't much, I guess I was seeing things. He is eating, drinking, and pooping normally so I guess I just overreacted. Thanks for the help guys. |
