Help oK I have a 6 month old yorkie that is driving me CRAZY:eek: . She has decided she needs to be with me 24 hours a day. i put her in her crate but she yips the whole time unless she can see me. At night she sleeps in her crate next to my bed which is ok but dring the day when she is in her crate she barks if I walk out of the room the other day I was cleaning and i thought oh she will stop in a few minutes when she sees I am not comming to get her she didn't it lasted 3 hours and I couldn't take anymore so I got her out. What can i do? I love her to death but this barking and needing only me is driving me crazy. Please help with any advice you have. She is not potty trained yet we are working on this it's going ok. Not great just ok:rolleyes: |
I actually like the breed because of this trait. I am able to be home with them all day so I don't crate and can't offer you in suggestions. Many do though so I am sure you will get some helpful advice. What about getting another for company since you want yours to be a little more independent? |

I hope you reconsider and allow her that simple pleasure because I think you will both be very sad if you don’t. :( |

LOL I love that Tiffany wants to be with me all the time. She is so loyal. How much are you crating her? I hope everything works out, Good luck! |
Maybe you are crating her to much...Try letting her out more during the day and see if this helps...But like everyone else has said..thats just yorkies...:D |
i also love this about yorkies...Bo is the sameway....he is with me 24/7 in the truck and at home and anytime i leave he has a dying fit and it kills me as bad as it does him....i am pretty bad about spoiling him until the other day his feet had never toutched the grass because i just couldnt stand the thought of it.....he is on my lap all the time i never crate him anymore...until he was potty trained he staied in it at night but that was it....but i am home with him so i can watch him and if we are not at home we are on the road in the truck with my hubby so i can watch him there also....but every since he was 8 weeks old he has used his pee pads with little only three acidents so we have been lucky...and the accidents were my fault because he will not use a dirty pad so i didnt change it in time.....good luck in getting your little guy better at this. |
i do have another dog a Bischon who is 3 years they get along ok. Its just the part where she barks whenever I cant give her my attention. Hopefully she will get better with age. I try not to crate only when I cant be right with her. I am taking her out to potty every 2 hours or sooner and in the evenings we go on a walk. At bedtime she does stay in her crate and is quiet from 9:00 to 7:00 as long as I am right beside her. Thanks for the advice. I will continue working with her:confused: and hope for the best. |

Get her some 'fancy panties' and let her go! www.sassy-petwear.com I ordered several little daipers, panties..whatever ya wanna call them for my girl until I got her trained. This works great, even when you go out to a friends house or family. No accidents on anyones carpets.......anyway, this gal made them custom for me and they are wonderful. Some really cute outfits there as well. The vet's office and well, just everywhere we go , they just have a fit about how cute my babies look in their stuffffff. Good luck to you, and welcome to YT. :aimeeyork |
Yikes, I just posted a rather long reply, ENCOURAGING you to stick with the crate and hang in there. . . but somehow it didn't take. I was told to log in (which I had already done) and then that the thread was invalid. Anyway, stick to your guns, leave the room, go outside, take a deep breath, and wait til she's calm before getting her out. Everytime she gets out when she's crying, that behavior is being reinforced. Hang in there, and if you want the whole story or just need some encouragement, send me a pm. Good luck!:) :) :) |
