welcome to yorkietalk |
That's the puppy Stage - Chanel used to wake me up at 2 am every morning -that was Pee 'n Play time - I loved it. :D :D :D She'll probably grow out of it....I have no advise but to enjoy it and one day she'll sleep thru the night |
Welcome! What worked for me is CAli would wake up at 1 or 2 am and I would take her out of her playpen and put her in her small crate on the pillow next to me and she would go right back to sleep. |
Should i not be taking her out to potty at night ? |
Welcome to YT! and congrats on the new baby. Trust me it's perfectly normal for them to cry just don't give in to the crying, otherwise it will not stop. Your pup will think she will get what she wants by crying. As hard as it is, try to ignore the crying, she will learn. |
thanks yes it is soo hard to hear her crying makes me feel bad but i know i have to just ignore it ! |
I would DEF take her out - yorkies have tiny bladders - she'll learn to hold it but for now ...let her out when she needs to go. She's just at the baby stage and for some reason the middle of the night gives them energy - lol - Quote:

if she truely does have to go in the middle of the night then yes take her out. however sometimes puppies learn that you will get up for them in the middle of th enight and take them out to play if they whine. SO they might start whining to be taken out just to play instead of having to potty. if you notice that everytime you take her out in the middle of the night that she just wants to play and not potty then you can stop taking her outside in the middle of the night. she just wants attention |
But when i bring her out she doesnt potty she waits till i put her back in the kennel ! |

okay thanks for all the suggestions ! |
You might try putting a sweaty t-shirt that you've worn in with her. It makes her feel like you're near her. If you're crate training I would only do it for a few days or a couple of weeks. Also, like kalina82 said, don't play with her in the middle of the night. Let her out to do her business and put her back in. You may have to do this a couple of times. After a while she should figure it out. She's still pretty young. |
Ahhhhh...:D This brings back memories. I used to beat them and set my alarm earlier than they should need to go and take them out. It was hard, but I knew it wouldn't last forever. And it doesn't.:D |
I would take a towels and cover up the kennel so Jewels couldnt see me and she would go to sleep |
about what age is typical to expect them to be house trained |
yeah i have one of her blankets covering her kennel at night |

Get all that sweet playtime you can, anytime! I love the early morning kisses, no matter what they want...potty or whatever. They always get so excited in the 'wee hours' pun intended.....HA......love them ...........love them while you have them. Yorkies are the sweetest, funny babies ever. I will be getting another baby one day soon, but for now I have a little sick one to tend to . 8 months old now, and the clock is ticking ! Love them while you can! |
myorkies2 good luck with your sick one i hope everything works out |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! Your pup just wants to play and have a little lovin'. In no time at all this phase will pass, and when it does, you will miss it:D . You might enjoy getting a little more sleep, but you will miss one more "puppy" thing that your baby is outgrowing. |
