I was looking at rescues earlier today, bad Megan BAD I know... all I need is another baby.. but anyway- I was thinking about their names;

Did your baby have a name when you first got them? Did you keep it or change it?


When I got Tucker at 16 weeks they had been calling him "Scruffy"

When I got Tripp he was named "Monty"

The guy who gave her to my boyfriend said "Goodbye LaLa." I did not know this when I named her, but Lola and LaLa are pretty similiar.

We rescued Brasco from a resue place, but his name was Rascal! So Rascal sounds like Brasco, so it wasn't too different! LOL! But then his 1st foster mommie contacted me, and when she had him, she called him Willy. Poor thing. And who knows what it was when he was a puppy and with his 1st owner! I think he went thru an identity crisis!

Simon didn't have a name when I got him and Hallie had been through so much I just kept her name. i was going to change it to Sadie but decided against it.

My breeder wouldn't tell me Oscar's name before I had him - she didn't want to influence me - wanted me to be the 'official' namer...

brownie didnt have a name but i had the name "navigator" picked out (i know bad name) lol but he looked like a chocolate brownie with nuts so thats his name lol

Some of the rescue gang I knew their names and left them with their names as they already were going through some pretty tough times..thank fully most of their names are fine...but some that came from the pound/humane society had to get new names but they seemed to adjust very easily to their new names...especially at dinner time.:p You know the old saying, "call me anything you want but just don't call me late to dinner"!

They called Reagan Holly, which we almost kept. I love the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's and Audrey Hepburn's name in it was Holly. It stuck until the last minute when we finally changed it to Reagan, it was a close call between the two. Now though I can't imagine calling her Holly.

Cindy- I think it's so great you are in rescue! You should show us some pictures of all those babies one day!!!

Oh Megan, I just got 2 PM's saying the same thing. I will work on trying to get pictures but I just got a new camera and don't know how to work it...I got the camera Alaska Mike recommended (for amateurs) so we will see how it goes...:p

LOL!!! Figuring out any new camera is a pain in the you know what! LOL! Good Luck!!!! I can't wait to see all these precious rescued babies!!!

when i got Casper his previous owner had named him Emril Pupsky...we went back and forth with names his "legal" name is Casper but i usually just him Bubba... he answers to both!:p

Buddy was named Harry Potter but it just did not fit him. We tried about 20 names but he just is our Buddy.

Scrappy was originally "Addison", or "Addy" for short. But I couldn't call a boy dog a girl name, sounded really strange to ME. So he took just fine to 'Scrappy"
