I need advice... Bella is 8 months old and still has her baby kanine teeth on her bottom jaw, and her adult teeth are almost all the way out. I felt the baby teeth and they seem like they're in there pretty good, I couldn't even wiggle them. I called my vet and they said I should probably have them pulled. I already had her spayed, so I'm worried about putting her under and putting her little body through all that stress, again :( I really don't want to do it, but I know that if I don't and they don't fall out naturally that it can cause infection and create problems with her bite. I would like any advice anyone has to help me make this decision. Thank you! :D |
Give her lots of hard, chew toys and see if they loosen up. Play "tug-of-war with her, too. Someone else suggested giving baby carrots as treats since they are hard. If they loosen any, they will most likely fall out on their own. Sissy still has one baby tooth at 10 months. It isn't a canine, but appears to be solidly in her mouth. So, I'm facing the same dilema. The vet said to give it about a month and if it doesn't fall out on its own, she'll have to go under to get it pulled. |
She is still young you could try to get it to come out on its own by playing lots of tug of war. |
You don't need to pull her teeth now unless they are causing her problems. You can wait and see if they fall on their own. Gucci had her four baby canine pulls when she was a year old. My vet advise me to wait until Gucci was a year old to have her spay and see if her teeth will fall on their own. That way she didn't need to be put under twice so soon. Like others advise give her lots of chew toys and you can play some tug of war. Keep brushing her teeth. |
My vet pulled Katy's when I got her spayed. |
Let me offer you some hope. Nikko had two double canines in the bottom row. I haven't had him neutered and was facing the same concern. He is 1 year and 2 months old and yesterday while playing with him I just noticed one of the canines finally fell out!!:D I was so overjoyed. I haven't neutered him for concerns of putting him under and those baby teeth were really starting to make me worry. Some other YTers on here have also had their babies lose teeth well after a year old, so don't worry. Keep them playing and chewing and eventually they'll fall out on their own. |
I thought I was going to have to have some of Sadie's pulled...same problem. But they eventually came out on their own. For a while I called her my little shark because she had two rows of teeth.:D |
teeth problems My 7 1/2 month old still has all his baby teeth and now his adult teeth are in. The vet says he has 2 rows and we need to pull the baby teeth to prevent gum diseases. I do not want to put him under at this age. Has any one ever heard of this? My vet said this could be a genetic disorder and all the baby teeth should have all come out by now or at least one or two. I am looking at pulling upper and lower baby teeth.. Cha Ching . Does this vet know what shes is doing or is she just tring to pay off her student loans. She is a young DR. right out of vet school? Should I seek a second opinion. melanie :animal36 |

caution, please ask the advice of your vet about the positioning of the baby teeth, if they and the adult teeth are left too long often times it can throw a bite off. An otherwise perfect bite can be ruined by over crowding. |
Brutus was neutered at 6 months and at 9 months had to get 6 teeth pulled. The vet didn't want to wait to long and possibly ruin his bite. |
