The whole family is obsessed with him so we may be just paranoid, buy we have a 14 year old Silky and she never lost her hair. Now she is losing it but her skin is old and covered with liver spots. Buddy went to the vet three weeks ago. Am I just being paranoid? | You should definately consider switching his shampoo. I used Hartz puppy shampoo on Hobbs when I first got him, and his hair was so nasty...brittle, cottony, felt like straw. For the longest time I thought he had a cottony coat (as opposed to silky coat, which is desirable)! He also had really dry, itchy, flaky skin. I was worried much like you are worried now! Then, after doing A LOT of research, I switched him to PetSilk shampoo and conditioner, changed his food from Pro Plan to Chicken Soup, and started adding Missing Link supplement to his food. WOW! What a difference that made!!!!! Hobbs actually has a silky coat, not a cottony coat!! Switch your shampoo ASAP and DEFINATELY use a conditioner! I would also only give your little one a bath every 10 - 14 days, instead of every week, at least until his hair situation gets better. Check the ingredients in the food you are feeding him...if one of the ingredients is corn, it is quite possible that is contributing to his skin and hair problem. Here are the websites for the products I use that have helped Hobbs' hair and skin SO much: http://www.petsilk.com/ http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com/ http://www.designinghealth.com/produ...ucts_main.html
If you change his food and add a supplement (like Missing Link) to his diet, it will take a couple of weeks for you to start seeing the results. Please keep us updated on how he does! |
