Crate Question Help I was putting zip in his crate when I was gone or at bed time and he was doing well, if i watch him. We have a doggie door and he uses it most of the time but since he was doing so well we start letting him loose in the living room to sleep with my Benji. When I wake up he has gone out side my bed room door and poops. never pee just poop. When I leave him and go do an errand most of the time he ok but sometimes he messes. Should I re crate train him? He is almost 6 months. I hate putting him in there. When you say crate train is that when he is always in there unless you can have yur eye on him or just when you go to bed, and out of the house? He does uses the doggie door when he wants to. help me please |

you leave your baby in the crate when you cant watch them, then when you go to get them out of the crate, you take the baby potty as soon as you take them out of the crate, then they learn that as soon as they get out of the crate they go and do there business. others leave a potty pad down in the crate for them if the crate is big enough. |
If he is going to the bathroom in the house when you're not at home, then the only way to correct the problem is to confine him. If you don't like putting him in the crate, then use an x-pen or put him in the kitchen with a baby gate or something. But, he will not learn unless he is confined. In my opinion, crate training is the best and fastest way for a puppy to learn to be potty trained. But, you cannot leave a young puppy in its crate for more than a couple of hours. So, if you will not be able to take him out at least every 2-3 hours, then you may want to consider an x-pen over the crate. I know the puppy may hate the crate now, but he will get used to it and learn to love it. Hobbs hated his at first and I hated putting him in there. But, now he loves it! GOOD LUCK! |
