kong question... Our two pups, one about 9lbs and the other 3lbs cannot seem to get the cookie out of the kong...this is the exact one we have and the exact cookie we insert http://www.petco.com/Shop/Product.as...milyID=100436& Does anyone else's pups have this problem? I know they know it's in there since there's a lot of saliva inside the cookie...they LOVED it when we first gave it to them weeks ago and they love the bounce it gives but cannot get to the cookie...what does everyone suggest filling it with? Something that does't make a mess in the house. thanks!! |

Bailey is the opposite, he gets em out quicker that crap, like a magician.. I love when he can't get something out, it occupys him,, that's the point. Eventually if they can't get it out I unload and refuel, and he's thrilled all over again. |

Kobe has always loved playing with an empty water bottle. He would have 10 toys laying around and go for the bottle. |

You didn't say how you put them in. I mention it because my first inclination was to just put the whole treat inside the Kong. BUT - the instructions say to squeeze the large hole until it's oval in shape and then put in the treat just to the first "notch" - that leaves part of it sticking out. The first one I put in, Bailey just chewed it off and couldn't get to the part left inside. Since then, she must have figured out how to pull the last part out before she chews all of the rest off - because it's winding up empty. |
I filled Alphy's today with little pieces of treats to make sure they'd come out. He'd take off running with the thing like he does when he plays and the little treats were coming out, but he didn't notice. :animal37 :yelrotflm Right behind him is Abby :dog: eating them all. LOL |

our kong toy is now a "throw ball" for the big dog.. Tootie couldnt master it either.... It must be a Yorkie thing cuz he LOVES empty water bottles too! People must think we are just trashy cuz they are all over the house.. LOL... I do remove the tops and take the little ring off the top and never leave them around when we are gone... |
I fill my two kongs with their dry puppy food.;) They bounce it and roll it all over the floor and follow along eating all the pieces. That way at least I know they are eating. I'll fill it three or four times.:D |
We're having a hard time mastering the kong too! I got the one for puppies/smallest dogs, but I still feel like it's too big for their mouths, somehow. |
You are supposed to leave the end of the cookie sticking out of the kong and not insert it all the way. I did this with Nikko's and he would get the cookie out in no time. So as of late, I have started sticking the cookies in all the way. He can't get it out either but he stays occupied for hours trying to get it. When he finally gets tired he brings it to me as if to say "mommy get it for me". He is left home alone during the day and I want him to have something to occupy his time. |
Princess likes the Kong, she works really hard to get that cookie out, and then won't eat it.    |
