Life is like a box of Chocolates... So, I'm learning that with Yorkies what you expect is not always what you get. Has anyone got their yorkie and expected one thing (size, color) and it turned out to be different? |
Chocolates or NUTS!!! Yeah...Oscar's breeder thought he would be around 3 pounds but I am so happy that he turned out the way he did. He is a rock solid, hard as nails 7 pound boy who will run and jump as long as you can keep up with him! I would not have him any other way! He is everything I had hoped for in a Yorkie...Everything! |
yes i expected lexi to be smaller around 5 or 6 lbs ,, i think shes around 8 or 9 lbs, solid as a rock.. but the best thing that ever happened to me.. wouldnt trade her for anything. |
Chachi was 1 lb at 6 weeks and the breeder told me he would be about 5 lbs he is 10 lbs. Jewels was 12 ounces at 8 weeks and she was supposed to be about 3 lbs she is 6. I was more disapointed about Jewels getting so big because paid $300 more for her because she was so small. I still want a small yorkie but the next one I am getting a pup from a breeder where the parents are both small. I have already found the breeder but My Husband doesnt want to get our next one untill we move into our next house. That is about a year or two from now so I have a wait |
Yep~ Bailey's parents were 5 and 6 pounds, saw em with my own eyes,,he's 10 pounds and mom was goldish color, dad was silver,,he is 2 and his back is still black... SURPRISE! |
I expected a Yorkie 2 Attachment(s) that had more hair. I actually think Dylan's hair is shrinking. Okay, so it's not really shrinking it's just that he is growing so much but his hair isn't. I still love him though and think he's cute. At least the hair on his head is growing so he can have a topknot. |
2 Attachment(s) Being naive I expected Georgie to look like his cousin Oliver (I added a pic of both for you to see them both). I thought (I know I am an idiot) that all Yorkies looked similar. However having said that I will add that I couldn't have ask for a sweeter more handsome boy than my Georgie. Oliver is handsome too they are just a different looking handsome;) I was pleasantly suprised that Yorkies come in all shapes and sizes:D #1 is Oliver #2 is Georgie |

I love my Tucker to death. I would not trade him for anything. (well, maybe Sneri's Mac, but that aint' happening!) lol He is 10 pounds, his ears don't go up, he hates belly rubs and cuddles. I know he is a pure bred yorkie but he seems to be his own man all the way! I do love him, though. He's my baby! When I had a child with birth defects I remember a social worker who gave me a story about not getting what you expected. It was really beautiful, and the jist of it was, if you spend all of your time thinking about what you didn't get you will miss out on the beauty of what you have. I'm in love with my Tucker boy and wouldn't change a thing about him! |

We thought Sophie would weigh 5-6lbs and she now weighs 12lbs. We thought she would be silver and she stayed black. (which I really like) We thought her ears would stand and they didn't. We didn't know she would have such thick beautiful hair. I thought I wanted a smaller dog but turns out she has been perfect for us. I babysit for a little boy and have lots of neices and nephews so I don't have to worry about her getting hurt as much as if she where smaller. I am so glad that I didn't know all about the breed standards and all the stuff I guess you should look at when getting a yorkie because I would have missed out on the best little yorkie girl in the world.:) |
Before we got Trace I did tons of research on the breed. Thought I'd learned everything, what I didn't expect was the yorkie personality. Yorkies have personality overload. :) Ramsey's personality is much different than Trace's...so it's not just different sizes and looks...they each have individual personalities. :) |

When you're going to have a baby, it's like planning a fabulous vacation trip-to Italy. You buy a bunch of guidebooks and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It's all very exciting. After months of eager anticipation the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. The stewardess comes in and says, "Welcome to Holland". "Holland?" you say. "What do you mean, Holland? I signed up for Italy! I'm supposed to be in Italy. All my life I've dreamed of Italy." But there's been a change in the flight plan. They've landed in Holland and there you must stay. The important thing is they haven't taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It's just a different place. So you must go and buy new guidebooks. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would have never met. It's just a different place. It's slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you've been there for a while you catch your breath, you look around, and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills, Holland has tulips, Holland even has Rembrandts. But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy, and they're all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say "Yes, that's where I was supposed to go. That's what I had planned." And the pain of that will never, ever, ever go away, because the loss of that dream is a very significant loss. But if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn't get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things about Holland. |

Thanks for sharing that story bchgirl. I can think of so many times in my life I've planned Italy and ended up in Holland- but I wouldn't ever change a thing!!! |
M very first Yorkie, Karma turned out to be 18 lbs grew no coat and had floppy ears. I lived at home when I got him but left him when I moved out a few years later, Beccause my Dad absolutely loved him. To this day he talks about Karma and it's been 36 years. When Karma died at 13 he built a shrine on his dresser for him. He was AKC registered. |
My little guy is about 9 pounds (maybe more) --- he hasn't been weighed for a long time. So that was a surprise to me. But - I couldn't be more pleased because he is so healthy, happy, and playful -- and can hold his own with everyone and other pets - and I don't have to worry about him at all. And - he is sooooooooooooo cute!!!!!! Carol Jean |
